My trusty companion was "removed"!!
So I was having a WONDERFUL run.... I had encountered a "Legendary Hermit" and was able to get him to follow me.... had him geared up with crazy equipment and a Chaingun.... things were going just great. I got to..... don't remember where but it was a named location that was not one of the "Main" ones... like one that I found out about from trading secrets... and when I arrived it said something to the effect of "Removing Illogical Object: Legendary Hermit WhateverHisNameWas". Now- i had seen this happen before with Glowfish or whatnot..... but has you guys seen this happen enough to where I should be wary of having companions and giving them primo gear? Just wondering what other people had experienced in regards to this type of thing. :2016popsicle::2016roasted::2016watermelon:

Ever since my proselytized buddy carrying a good deal of primo gear got sucked into an unstable vortex to some remote corner of qud never to be seen again, I dont really gear them up that great anymore...

Death by removal, no, but I'd still be reluctant to gear them heavily given that they have a tendency to be foolhardily aggressive even in the face of rocket turrets and the like, or to lose non-lacquered gear due to qudzu, etc. They'll get spare gear to keep them somewhat useful (esp. if I'm playing an Esper w/ Domination, in which case they can potentially save me some skill points -- maybe doing my butchering or tinkering) but not anything I'm thinking I might *need* later.

It's not as if I was giving him stuff that I could have been using instead.... we both had chainguns but I was mainly using dual Overcharged Laser Pistols with a Scoped Masterwork LaserRifle for variety. Also using a Crysteel LongSword with a Folded Carbide Frozen Shortsword. I think my Legendary Hermit was using some armor that was +6 -6 (because I was learning more towards dodging for my character) and he was using whatever weapon tier was between Crysteel and Folded Carbide. I know I'm probably butchering some of the technical words.... it was BY FAR my best run and FOR ME, i had a crazy abundance of riches and great equipment.... had like 8 AV and about 19 DV, about 160HP at level 21. (True Kin with mostly combat-assisting cybernetics, 8 points put into cybernetics.) I'd personally never even SEEN any Laser Weaponry- let alone anything past Folder Carbide. I even found that cool stuff that lets you duplicate stuff but was afraid to use it because the item description sounded.... potentially scary and I try to never use guides. Sorry for pointless rambling... i LOVE this game. :2016popsicle::2016roasted::2016watermelon:

Oh- and i'm not bitter or complaining- I fully realize that CoQ is a work in progress... potentially an eternal work in progress. And i'm totally cool with that. I've never had anything game-breaking happen and I can even chalk up losing a valuable companion randomly as an "Act of God" type thing... like "My Legendary Hermit tripped over a stick and fell headfirst into a pointy rock... and thus was lost forever". I was just wondering if people had encountered this.

Metamorphic polygel? Heh, expensive as hell but useful for cloning extremely rare items.

Think there used to be some exploits involving cloning containers full of items but I'm under the impression that those all got patched away.

Yup- that's the stuff. Metamorphic Polygel. I'd never really been in a position where I could delve 20, 30+ floors underground- especially in the Ruins areas, and I started finding dead bodies every-so often with some CRAZY equipment and items. Those Cybernetic credits though.... MAN those are rare. Found a couple of people that would sell them but they were something like 300-400 bucks a piece..... that's basically trading a high-end weapon/armor for a fraction of an upgrade. I guess I could have used that gel on a 3-credit piece.... unless they each count as a single "item" and the gel would only duplicate one of them. Like I said- I don't usually look at guides because I like to stumble through games like this.

@OP Still better than accidentally killing somebody you shared a water ritual with.
Buddies get lost. They will attack a wall you randomly hit or something and go crazy trying to kill it.

Good luck :)
