Evil Twin
So I take this because I actually like this a lot however it really should be called "Army of Evil Twins". The description heavily implies there is only one and I already knew this isn't the case but today alone, and several other days, I have found my twin 12 times over the course of an hour and a half. I literally just alt-f4'd after sensing "a sinister presence" four consecutive locations in just silly fields with nothing else. It just feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ silly and immersion breaking. Does anyone else have this problem or is my current character just interdimensionally ♥♥♥♥♥♥? Are there any plans of ever adjusting this? I would like to see fewer spawns and a smarter A.I. with these copies.

I feel like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dimensional portal should just open up and drop 8 copies of you on your face instead. Would feel the same :steamsalty:

I feel like it never used to be so constant but maybe I was just really lucky back then. I know it is a chance per every location you have never visited. So you could travel on every tile and never see your twin again.

It's really an army of twins if you took temporal fugue

I once had a run that encountered zero twins until about level 18. I've had runs where they spawn in the first screen outside of joppa (or more recently the procgen villages), and I've had runs where they spawn on multiple screens on the way to the first dungeon from there. The thing about RNG is that you'll get streaky things like that- Pi has a lot of strings of zeros in it*

*I half remembered a factoid about there being "a hundred zeros in a row" in pi but I decided to fact check that and apparently there's theoretically no reason there shouldn't be a string of a thousand or more zeros at some point in pi- humanity hasn't computed that far though.

Well I know the RNG I guess my main point here is that a trait this awesome should have a bit more polish to it.

Like I said, I would love for there to be fewer. I would love to see a far more advanced A.I. in this particular case as it is "the player". I would also like to see maybe a kind of persistency with the evil twin itself like attempting to actually run and survive to try to kill you another day.

I also have yet to figure out beating my evil twin to a precognition trigger so in my original post when I said I ran into 4 consecutive evil twins I essentially had to fight 8 evil twins because of the way precognition works for anyone using it other than the player.

Though this in particular is more of an issue with precog than anything and I have no doubt that the dev will flesh this out as I believe precog can cause a lot of problems in specific scenarios

HAHA YES! This is actually the next mutation I plan on precog grinding for. Army vs army all with precog XD

I believe the mutation is based on a movie called The One (2001).

“A rogue Multiverse agent goes on a manhunt for versions of himself, getting stronger with each kill. With only one version remaining, he races against the clock to finish him and become "The One."”

So as you can see, the evil twin is basically one of the infinite (not really) versions of you, who are trying to kill you. Kind of like how Ricks treat other Ricks in Rick and Morty.

I hope that you don't have Force Bubble or Force Wall, as that will probably be... aggravating.

I don't think your evil twin will use precognition. seems like it could eff up the spacetime continuum.

They can, confirmed.

what... happens?

Their timer doesn't seem to run down much like when precog is used before dominating something and then when you kill them they get the precog trigger back to the beginning of the fight but you don't. So you essentially fight your twin twice because they heal and "never used" their skills. I have yet to figure out beating them to the trigger unless you just crit their face apart and they die too quick because they were busy using items first.
