I just had a plastic tree rust after being attacked by a qudzu, but I believe plastic can't rust as it doesn't contain any iron. Can all items in the game rust (besides lacquered items)?

The real plastic does not rust IRL, you are right. In this game however, most items can rust, regardless of what they are made from - plastic tree, leather armor, etc.

So yeah, no logic here :D

I think it as a some weird organic rust, so yes plastic in Qud will rust :) Most of the items yes for sure, especially if they are usable. Food and water I think no, at least never seen that happened.

Isn't metal affected by acid looks like rusted too?
Also I remember thatit is a second circle of rust vs non-metal talks lol.

Perhaps certain items (plastic chairs, leather items, waterskins, wooden chests) could be considered as "lacquered" as far as rusting in concerned, but on the other hand I do understand that the devs may want to stick to the current algorithm for game design purposes. But the latter might raise an eyebrow here and there, even if one thinks "it's not real life, it's just what happens in Qud in the game".

yeah I feel like minor logical inconsistencies can be permitted in a universe with, say, talking plants and engineering ursine. but non-metal rusting did stick out to me at first, too.
