Parasangs

I've played this game for a while and I still can't make sense of the parasang system.

If a quest says. Go 2-5 parasangs south from this place. I would assume it means one tile on the overworld map, or 2-5 zones down from whatever place it wants you to start from. But I still can't seem to find where I need to go?

If you're on an overworld tile, you get in, move one screen and then go back to the overworld map, you'll notice you're still on the same tile. That means there are more than one screen per overworld tile.

A parasang is a 3x3 grid. 9 screens in total.
