I usually pronounce it /kud/ or /kʊd/. If I'm lazy, I'll say it /kəd/.

Unless Freehold's really into linguistics and they want to make the name of their game hard to pronounce for native English speakers, odds are it's one of the above three pronunciations. The 'Q' would imply a /q/ but that particular sound is not found outside of specific English dialects. It's definitely a sound found in other languages though. But in English, it's a rare sound.

If we want to shift over to the next stall in this particular horse barn, if you compare the written "Caves of Qud" with "Caves of Cud," which letter are you going to use to promote your game? Huh? Well, what about "Caves of Kud?" Or maybe "Kaves of Kud?" Those could be viable alternatives. But when you use the stylistic 'Q,' it really conveys the exotic, alien environment of Qud. If we're to pronounce 'Qud' how the natives do, by then we've probably gone native and become one of them.

I always assumed you just pronounced 'Qud' identically to 'could,' as in "I wish I could do that."

One of my friends pokes fun at the name by calling it "Caves of Qudn't" going off the "could" pronunciation.

Brian and Jason pronounce it "cud", but Brian has opined that my pronunciation "kood" is probably more correct in some sense.

(If you take the most likely way to write that in Hebrew, קוד, and put it into Google Translate, it says "Code". So it's the Caves of Code. SO META)

I personally quite like to articulate the Q, so it ends up sounding like quad a little bit.
