How does Rebuke Robot actually work?

I am having a hell of a hard time rebuking even chromelings reliably, can't even dream to get plated ones or any more serious robot on my side, and I got a decent ego rating.

Ego and level are your factors, with, I suspect a Will and Level check on the enemies side (not at all sure on that front. The only time this really comes into play is with Berate, but that only works on not robots, so only comes into play with Proselytize).

There are 2 checks, are pacifying one and an allying one. Naturally, the allying one is harder.

If you want chromelings, you basically just need to level up and whatever. If you're really dedicated you can have builds that pump Ego or whatever, but that's a more specific thing than it sounds like you're going for.

Otherwise, there's a cybernetic that you can sometimes find which might interest you. The Communications Interlock raises your effective level for Rebuke Robot by 5, and it can be equipped on any slot. Theoretically you could get a level up to something ridiculous like 60 if you filled all the slots, probably enough to Rebuke a Stalker.

I do have that one. I think I am going to install it somewhere in place of the tendons and just try my luck. I really need an ally for packmuleing my loot.

Plated Chromelings have a naturally really high AV, and goodd equipment slots. They'd make good tanks.
