Though honestly the reason why people don't find Nekopara boring is due to the R18 patch (which adds in hentai). I'm not sure what's your experience with visual novels, but Nekopara is definitely not something you want to be checking out if you want a good story as this is more about the moe nekomimi girls than anything else. If you want a visual novel with a more intriguing plot and slightly more 'game' elements then I reccomend checking out Danganronpa.
Always a good idea to research these things a little. But if you didn't go over 2 hours of play, and it has been less than 2 weeks, you're supposed to be able to get a refund from Steam.
Also, visual novels are not dating sims. Totally different structure. VNs are...well, novels, while dating sims are more like RPGs, what with a focus on stats and such.
Some of us can actually enjoy things that don't require interaction. I can enjoy both paper and visual novels, as long as they have something to them, like a good story or, as in this case, cute catgirls doing cute things. :-D If you don't, that's fine. I do believe there are visual novels with choices on Steam; if not, there are plenty out there with varying numbers of choices, and many, many in the romance genre (it's where the medium started, I think).
I have to disagree with this. Plenty of people get significant enjoyment just out of the moe aspect. Some are even put off by the adult content and are glad the Steam version lacks it. Me? I'm okay with it, but I'm also okay without it, as I don't really find it arousing (plus, some of the vocalizations are annoying or even ear rape); it's more that I'm curious just what happens in those scenes. :-D
Agreed completely with this part.
If you want some examples of what I was saying, you can look at the let's plays of The Anime Man; Lost Pause; Thamriyell; and MAGES, The Wandering Mage; just to name some of my favorites. All of them used the Steam version, and all loved it. That's not to say they weren't interested in the adult content; at least two of them said they watched it separately. But clearly, it was an extra thing after enjoying the other stuff. (I also like VGVNGamer, but he used the 18+ version, so it doesn't count.)
Because, well, you're still supposed to do research on what you buy. If you did any research I'm not sure how you missed that there are no choices in Nekopara games and its what you call a kinetic novel.
And "game" is a broad term. I see "game" encompassing anything thats basically entertainmnet software.
my point is if visual novel is good the gameplay element is not needed
