Why is this on steam
Don't get me wrong, I love these things, nekomimi girls i love it, But why has the visual novel game menu. Honestly, I bought this thinking that it is a game, where I have a choice of answers and I will be able to have influence on the storyline ( like dating sims). I don't understand what people like on this, it is between manga and anime and it's boring, most of time i just read what the main protagonist told and what is happening, then there are cute girls with dubing and with little movement, that it, because that don't have enough of pictures like manga, or animation like anime , so in the end it's just boring reading, and my question is, why is this on steam where you buying games, this is not a game.

Well to be honest I'm really happy that steam is releasing visual novels. No, they are not games, but just novels that are available on several platforms. Not only steam, but on the Vita, PS3, etc.

Though honestly the reason why people don't find Nekopara boring is due to the R18 patch (which adds in hentai). I'm not sure what's your experience with visual novels, but Nekopara is definitely not something you want to be checking out if you want a good story as this is more about the moe nekomimi girls than anything else. If you want a visual novel with a more intriguing plot and slightly more 'game' elements then I reccomend checking out Danganronpa.

I also don't consider visual novels as games, generally. Even the ones that do have choices are not nearly interactive enough to qualify, as far as I'm concerned. (There are exceptions; for instance Higurashi When They Cry is a game, despite having no choices, but the game element is in trying to solve the mystery, just like with classic detective fiction.) But hey, where else are you going to publish them than among video games?

Always a good idea to research these things a little. But if you didn't go over 2 hours of play, and it has been less than 2 weeks, you're supposed to be able to get a refund from Steam.

Also, visual novels are not dating sims. Totally different structure. VNs are...well, novels, while dating sims are more like RPGs, what with a focus on stats and such.

Some of us can actually enjoy things that don't require interaction. I can enjoy both paper and visual novels, as long as they have something to them, like a good story or, as in this case, cute catgirls doing cute things. :-D If you don't, that's fine. I do believe there are visual novels with choices on Steam; if not, there are plenty out there with varying numbers of choices, and many, many in the romance genre (it's where the medium started, I think).

I have to disagree with this. Plenty of people get significant enjoyment just out of the moe aspect. Some are even put off by the adult content and are glad the Steam version lacks it. Me? I'm okay with it, but I'm also okay without it, as I don't really find it arousing (plus, some of the vocalizations are annoying or even ear rape); it's more that I'm curious just what happens in those scenes. :-D

Agreed completely with this part.

Ah alright, when I was browsing through the forums on steam, it sounded more like people were only interested in the game for the R18+ elements. So that's pretty much the impression I got.

Maybe a bit biased. People who do want that are likely to come to these forums seeking help, while those who don't won't necessarily come at all.

If you want some examples of what I was saying, you can look at the let's plays of The Anime Man; Lost Pause; Thamriyell; and MAGES, The Wandering Mage; just to name some of my favorites. All of them used the Steam version, and all loved it. That's not to say they weren't interested in the adult content; at least two of them said they watched it separately. But clearly, it was an extra thing after enjoying the other stuff. (I also like VGVNGamer, but he used the 18+ version, so it doesn't count.)

Because, well, you're still supposed to do research on what you buy. If you did any research I'm not sure how you missed that there are no choices in Nekopara games and its what you call a kinetic novel.
And "game" is a broad term. I see "game" encompassing anything thats basically entertainmnet software.

Thank you, for your comments, they give me a lot of information what i need. It was my mistake that i didn't make research, but on the other hand, some falt was on the steam, when i was looking for dating sim a i just put this in search, in one of the to recommendetions was nekopara, when i look on youtube, everywhere was gameplay, after some play around 2hours i look at on the wiki where i found that it's visual novel. I must say i ''played'' something around 4hours and i don't like it, beacuse for me it would be better if it was a book, manga or anime, this form is for me boring. It's like play dungeons and dragons whithout any options just listening strory, with some pictures a thats all.

nekopara has fierd charm of it unlike any other game or ''game''(reason i love it) but i can't consider it to be good vn. but thanks to it i found visual novels i absolute love like grisaia no kajitsu(fruits of grisaia), MGQ(the one witch we don't speak up), and muv-luv. even if some of these have anime adaption i wound that means of character development and story telling vn is almost always superior to anime. (and yes the nekopara is hentai game more than visual novel unlike others... two I mentioned are vn:s with couple h-scenes)

my point is if visual novel is good the gameplay element is not needed
