Is there a tutorial?
Hi, I just bought this awesome game, but I started wondering is there a tutorial? I'm totally new to this game.

Play the campaign of the original (without venice), each mission will introduce basic building, transporting, economy and warfare one after another.

Venice offers no campaign but different scenarios, being small stand-alone episodes teaching you about its new mechanics like sabotage.

Oh, thanks. =)

When I play the original it still says Venice, both do. And I see no campaign mode. I seriously have no idea how to play this game, I build houses, market, road, sawmills until I run out of tools then I'm stuck.. I can't find buildings to make them or trade as there is no ship build option and the ship I use to route a trade never seems to return however short the trade route seems.

Try starting the Anno4.exe instead of Addon.exe in the game's folder.

You can buy tools from Richard Northburgh manually once you've bought a flagship later on or set up a buying order in your warehouse. The latter will prompt every NPC visiting your island to sell you some tools (or whichever ware you demand).

That works thanks Ishbane :D Just had some nice easy tutorial style missions in campaign, though just out of curiosity can you make your own tools? Or is that something only much later in the game (unlockable)? Would be massively helpful as it is a big need whatever I build lol

Yes, you can build your own once you have enough citizens in your town. It's covered fairly early in the campaign.

Awesome thanks, yeah just done round 2 lol! In a random map style I couldn't but looking back I definitely didn't have enough population so that explains that then! Cheers Efa :D

Right-click the game in your steam library and left-click "Properties".

Once opened, switch to the tab "Local files" and click the Button "Browse Local Files" to open the folder.

Also, if you just doubleclick the Venice version in your steam list of games, it should give you a popup that allows you to choose between the core game & Venice.

I'm new to this game and the campaign has nothing to do with the normal game. I can never build what I need. In the campaign you're given a ship. In the normal game you need to build the shipyard which is impossible with no stone and no tools. Tools run out if you upgrade the houses to get enough citizens in order to get unlocked the shipyard. And that's not even trying to get the quarry. So how the hell does one start with this game?

1.) In a sandbox-game you can decide if you want to start with a harbor or with a ship or a bigger starting fleet (more tools and wood).

2.) You can import tools at your harbor if you dont have some left.

3.) If you only upgrade houses until you unlock the smithy your starting tools should be sufficent.
