Converting Online profile --> Offline profile?
Hello everyone!

Recently I have had great difficulty playing Anno 1404: Venice, due to the bug that is causing any game/scenario/save to be stuck in a repeated cycle of "Downloading..." (See similar forum thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/33350/discussions/0/1739980540115873293/). Anyways, having spent a decent amount of time playing Anno 1404: Venice, I don't want to loose all of my progress on my online profile. But I also want to play. Is it possible to convert my online profile, into an offline one?

Mysteriously enough, on my old as pc, Anno 1404: Venice works just fine. It is also Windows 10 and also through Steam. If you guys have any ideas/hints at what causes the bug, please feel free to tell.

Lastly I have tried submitting a ticket to Ubisoft support, but the response was just depressing. "Try to reinstall it, and Uplay aswell 4head". I don't even have Uplay, it's through Steam!!! Now I'm sad. :(

Thanks for reading this far. Have a great day :)

You can't convert a profile from online to offline.

The "Bug" you mean is not a bug, it means your profile is damaged and need to be fixed.

To fix it you can send the profile file via Ticket to the Ubisoft Supprt and they fix it for you.

To get your CD Key from Steam. Rightclick the Game -> Manage -> CD Keys

I forgot the Ubi Support is sometimes stupid, so write back that your online profile isn't working and send it with the ticket

It toook me two weeks, in this time i made an offline profile and played there so i always have a profile to play.

To prevent this issue make backups from your online profile ;)

Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm not sure that my save games are "broken", it's that no games will start at all! Not even when trying continues game or a new scenario. I have a high suspession that it's the online save profile where the issue lies in, since other people also have had similar problems. Apparently it can be resolved by creating and playing on an offline profile, but that would be sad, since I don't really want to start all over. I have looked around, and some forum threads are suggesting that you need to buy Anno 1404: History Edition, apparently, that should "fix" the issues with the online profile. However, it seems outragous to pay 15£ for a game that I already own! Perhaps I can just make a backup of my online profile, with my progress intact and play on that?

If that is a possibility, could you show/text me how? I'm not that tech savvy (regrettably). As always, thank you for taking the time to read this, and any help is always greatly appreciated. :)

First i ment Profile not savegame :/

This "Downloading..." Bug can't be fixed with Anno 1404 History Edition because it is either the Servers are down or the profile is damaged. Last one is the most common issue.

If you still can play with your profile i really recomment a backup of your profile everytime before you start the game and change the name of the file with the date like "12345679_06_12_2020.profile" so you always know from when the profile is.

The Profiles are in "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Ubisoft\Anno1404\Profiles\"

If you can't see the folder "AppData" press the Windows Key on your Keyboard and type %appdata% and press enter. You are now in the folder "AppData\Roaming"

I have a Batch file which makes a Backup from the Profiles Folder but it uses 7Zip to compress them.

It looks like this if i make a backup https://prnt.sc/vwvspw

You can download the program here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19ARBtzOWQXLaLLddPACZo35s453wNP0p/view?usp=sharing

You can make every second a backup if you want ;)

Hi, thanks for the swift reply! :D

I managed to find my save profile, under the folder that you mentioned. But the program that you linked, it is not really working for me. It says, that I need permission before accessing the drive. Am I doing this right?

Also, do I just run the program when I get the permission? And what/how does compressing/compiling the save profile "fix" it?

Also also, the profile is in a strange format. It is not in notepad or any other programs that I know of. You sure 7Zip can open/fix it?

As always, thank you immensly for the help. This has been far more helpful than the Ubisoft support team. You are the true MVP :)

If you are not admin on your computer or if you have user account control activated, you have to give the program permission. You can also rightclick on it and start it as admin.

My program doesn't fix anything... My program only makes a backup of your profile and archive it in a 7zip-file

7Zip is a Archiver Program like WinRar or WinZip. You can't open the profiles with it.

If you wanna fix a profile you have to send it via Ticket to Ubisoft as it is written in the first link i gave you. Only Ubisoft can fix a profile, they did it for me and it worked.

Ahh allright. I'll try sending another ticket to Ubisoft Support again, this time with the compressed profile and my CD Key. However, due to the pandemic, it seems I can only get in contact with them through live support, which is from 9.30 AM - 2.30 AM ET. Gah. Guess I'll wait a little longer.

Thanks a billion times again for the help. I'll comment on this post, should I succed in my endevaurs, in case someone stumbles on the same problem as I.

One last thing: if I make backups of my profiles, will that "safeguard" any future corruption of my player profiles? And can I just backup my profiles by making copies of the .profile and putting them into a folder in my documents? Or is it nessesary to compress them with Winrar/7Zip?

Thank you once again. Hope you are having a splendid day. :)
