For some reason this reminds me of a problem I had before. Anno used to give me the notification that the amount of work memory was insufficient (I have 8 GB and Anno's algorithm naturally consumes 2 GB 'max'). So what I learned is that because Anno is a fairly old game, it was originally designed to use a maximum of 2 GB of work memory.
Now I can imagine that Runtime Errors are in some way related to the work memory error that I was getting. What may be worth a shot is the same solution I used which is this tool called "Large Address Aware" that enables the .exe file of Anno 1404(: Venice) to use more than 2 GB of work memory.
If you google for Large Address Aware you should bump into this kind of forums with download links:

Would be happy to hear if someone tries this and whether this worked!
Thanks man.
In my experience this solutions (which contain the large adress aware as well) help you play the game longer but eventually it will still crash. Especially the later stages of the game are difficult to play if you experience this problem because it will crash way too often.
I believe the problem is caused by Anno 1404 being an old game which is not designed for new computers like we have nowadays. Ubisoft hasn't released a patch unfortunately so if you still experience the error after doing everything from the guide, there is not much more you can do. I've got the same problem and haven't found anything better yet. I hope this helps though.
