All trees appear to be cut

Everything was fine until at some point in the middle of the game all trees kind of disappeared. Now there're only stubs and a few bushes left.
I dont know how to fix it, does anyone have an idea?

Is it a bug or did something else happen? Can you plant new trees and do they appear complete on screen or are they stumps as well?

Then i think your gamefiles are corrupted. Try verify gamefiles or uninstall and install the game. Your savegame should by fine but i would back up your save files just to be sure. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.

Also try this: download and install 4gb patch and the unofficial patch. I have been usig those for years and never had any problems

Okay I'll try... but it seems weird to me that the gamefiles suddenly corrupt while being in-game...

Yes, that is weird. Do you play vanilla or modded? I had a problem with iaam mod in scenario. My first island looked okay, but when i sailed and discovered another island, the game seemed to go in 8 bit mode...almost no color and very pixely....i uninstalled the mod and game and reinstalled it. I now play it vanilla without errors. i play venice now with 4gb and unofficial patch. Works great.
