Change settings after game has started

I've spent many hours building up an empire on continuous play but I stupidly enabled tornado's when I started the game, now my main island gets annihilated every time I load my save. Is there any way I can edit my save to turn tornado's off? I don't care about achievements or anything. Please!! It's ruining my will to continue my hard work lol. Thanks!

I have tried, the save is in jibberish. Was kind of hoping someone had experience with this already.
