Try typing "www" first in the console and only then "freecamera". This way the camera should be able to rotate.
Here are some tips on controls in free camera mode:
1. Ctrl+Middle Mouse Button - changes the angle
2. Ctrl+Mouse Wheel -changes the perspective
3. You're also able to inlimitely zoom out.
Hope it helps :)
If it can be done, either via a mod or va a patch - i'll hang around :-)
We're working on an in-game option to move your camera around, without use of cheats.
Regarding your question: we have a small internal struggle between devs. Some want more features like you suggested (for exampple, being able to rotate buildings as well) and some want to leave things the way they were Cossacks 1. But that won't stop us from implementing features our players want :)
Really good to see active dev's in the forum - Brill :-) - Thanks for that update, it would be good to see an option in game :-) Give the players the choice to have it on or off - that solves your dev problems.
Alternativley, lets have a MP battle, and the winner gets their way ;-)
Some people like the old school view, some like the cinematic view, some people dont care either way.
Since the days of freeform cameras, i have always had a preferred view of the battle, and now it feels wrong viewing things from the wrong angle - i know that sounds wierd, but if my little troops are fighting one way, i like to view and control the battle from a particular perspective. Perhaps im just a bit odd :-)
I think Zulgaines hits the nail on the head, I can remember buying cossacks back in the day (im old), and loved it. When i saw Cossacks 3 - i thought whoooohooo! the next evolution of Cossacks, rather than WhooooHooo! A HD remake!
If it was just Cossacks 1: HD, people would probably have different expectations, but for what its worth, i'll be hanging around and seeing what happens, you have my attention, you have my ££'s, dont spend it all on pizza before putting in the camera option ;-)
make it finaly a game feature it self not a silly cheat command
there is nothing wrong in having a nice camera view in any rts game
