Performance Issues
I'm getting low fps during battles (with around 200 men on the field ), something like 25 frames at worst and it really gets on my nerves. Lowering graphics settings doesn't do much difference either, increases fps by 3 or so :/. I think my rig should be good enough for the game to run well. What gives?

My system:
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
RAM: 4.1 GB
Video Card: GeForce GTX 750 2gb OC edition

I'm having the exact same issue. Despite exceeding the minimum requirements. I emailed the devs and the only response has been copy and pasted from community announcements on patch notes. Smh some responsiveness would be nice

Dude, I am shocked that potato can even run the game.

You do realize, that machine really shouldn't be used for gaming. AT ALL..

Slow, Old, Dual Core = CHECK
Low, slow RAM = CHECK (8GB is minimum, 16GB ideal for gaming)
Old, Slow, Low VRAM graphic card = Check

Absolutely stunned anyone would use that for gaming.
Then I suppose you will be completely mind blown to hear that this very computer is capable of running skyrim on ultra and max payne 3 on high 60 fps both and even mad max on mid-high 40-50 fps. So you would think that it could run Cossacks 3, yeah? Is there some weird magic in my computer or something? :-o

This appears to be a 32 bit process so it at most can address 4gb. So the 8-16 gb recommendation doesn't really apply for this game, even though it allows more processes to efficiently execute at the same time. Lower amount of memory could lead to swapping. Consider the OS and other stuff has to fix within the 4gb of your machine, 4gb is low.

Generally speaking, FPS games stress the GPU, and strategy games stress the CPU more, which is why you might be seeing a difference skyrim, mad max, and max payne. Those "200 men on the field" require CPU AI resources, and it sounds like your computer isn't up to the task currently.

So it can run 5 year old games fine? Congratulations..

You do realize, Max Payne is 5 years old, right? I'm sorry but your PC is a potato with barely any processing power. It's not fit for gaming.
And Mad Max? It is fit for gaming, but maybe not for the most modern games, yeah I agree with you on that.

What kind of third party programs do you have running?

Any FPS tools, gaming boosters, or recording/streaming software?

Those sorts of programs have been linked to FPS issues.

The shadow and SSAO options boosted my FPS from 40 to 60.
I have Razer game booster, tried with and without it, no difference. Turning off SSAO and shadows made little difference too :/

Okay thank you for clearing that up for me. Appreciate it :)

I've tried those solutions and unfortunately they either are not applicable or didn't help.
I think it's worth mentioning the performance issues are with the game running on absolutely minimal settings. My GPU is fully updated. It is set to "performance mode" settings. I have tried with vsync both on and off. My computer is not a gaming rig, but it's capable of running other games - Skyrim, GTA 4, Saints Row 4, Red Alert 3, Age of Empires 3 - at a constant and playable 30 fps. That is all I want and expect Cossacks 3 to do.

Thread's a little old by now, don't you think? :D
Nowadays I have a GTX 1060 and 16gb ram

I also have performance problems when there are many units on the battlefield. In TaskManager you can see that the hardware is bored. So it's clearly a bug.

gpu gtx 1080
cpu i7-6700
16 gb ram
