About the AI.... well, if you're a veteran, yeah, I think AI may seem stupid. Also, currently AI doesn't really work too well on water maps. Other than that, it seems fine to me. I've been playing cossacks since the original came out, and I still enjoy this one against a couple of "Impossible" AIs.
I'd recommend it, especially for the low price tag.
Thanks, that will help my decision
It's a nice challenge to get into this kind of gameplay. Never played something like this.
Good thing you liked it! In fact, I was surprised I've enjoyed it so much as I have until this point, considering it's basically a remaster.
That sounds great. I already played it a lot, but no campaign yet. I will try them soon.
The AI is very good at the economical aspect of the game. It can be a challange because it may manage to generate more units than you most of the time. But it really lacks many things when it comes to controlling the troops. It often wastes them to your canons instead of retreating, when being attacked in its base it lets its units hang around everywhere instead of concentrating their fire, and it simply doesn't know how to leave an island, so all you need to do to win on a sea map is to besiege the AI's island with lots of ships until most units (which are standing around well-ordered everywhere and won't change their positions when being under fire most of the time) are dead and let your troops do the rest.
By the way: The most important thing you should know as a new player is that you should try to capture at least one enemy citizen of each opponent as early as possible and use him to build a town hall of its kind in your base. (You only need to place it there, your own builders can build it up.) If you control at least one foreign citizen, you can use him to build cheap additional buildings for unit-generation, because the price of those buildings will be as low as if you had no own ones!
The AI will try its best to do this to you, and if it succeeds, it will soon generate the double amount of units. So take care of your citizens!
