It's pretty sweet
Haven't played since the last patch, but I recall correctly they made XVIIIth century tech/barracks cheaper and builders salary cheaper as well.
With that said, it should be easier for Prussia to turtle up into XVIIIth century. At least that's how I'm used to play as Prussia.
Cheers!
Yup, there are better nations to play in this scenario. Thing is, the AI won't dogpile and will be busy killing each other, so you normally face 2-3 oponents at a time. That's when turtling comes into play.
I dislike rushing and have no problem playing a random nation, wich means I have problem playing in a less than ideal situation.
Hope that helps!
do note I do multiplayer only
Early game Russia their likes can be massed easily
Spain
Their pikes decimate any other pikes/sword infantry
Algeria for archer rush (I still like it)
Midgame Ukraine their serdiukssare overpowered but not just the serdiuks they can't be stopped basically unless you would build artillery but ewww that's gross
Poland their 17th century mushers together with light rider's do pretty well
Endgame Ukraine don't even question it
Danish muskets
Prussia their mushets and hussars are nice
Some people will probably kill me for mentioning this but I think France is quite top tier to depending on how you use them for not to long Endgame you can use dragoon's(do note these guys are the least to say very difficult to use low health but good firepowe) and mushets together with pikes and mercenary roundshiers
And chasseurs if massed which is very difficult to do and I can not really most if the time because it justrtakes ways to much time to pull off, they do have 1000 range 18tg century Prussian muskets and Danish both have950 normal 18th mushets 900
They can just out range everything in combination with stand ground command hills and proper formation use its theoretically unstoppable but 1 large but this needs really careful macro because you basically want to put waves of chasseurs on top of each other toxcompensate their slower firerate
There is a lot more to consider but if you want to know more watch my videos basically :P enjoy hope I helped a little bit
I used to play Prussia (reasons see older comments), but I also liked England. Though their Highlanders do indeed take some time to produce, they just have devastating firepower. On the other hand, they need to be protected by musketeers or something like that (the British Highlanders are basically snipers). They don't cost too much, though.
Now that I purchased in the sale the Scots, I've tried them for a few games. They are very interesting to play, as they have archers as well as musketeers. But their problem ist that no ranged fighter is able to go into melee, so you need TONS of swordfighters to protect them. On the other hand, these swordfighters just rampage - if they're able to go into melee before getting outgunned. So basically - in my opinion - Scotland is primary an early-game-faction that gets grievous problems in the lategame, as the swordfighters are often gunned down in the lategame before they can reach melee, the archers are only effective if protected by melee and the scottish musketeers are just... well... sh*t. Apart from that they also can't go into melee. Some nice thing about Scotland is that they don't need much coal and iron, but loads of gold to build a lot of castles.
I hope I could help you.
