Thank you very much!
Altho just keep in mind that the Danish 17th Century Muskteer is the fastest shooter in the game.
And to soldier not true Dutch 17th muskets do abs as far as know there's no hidden statts with the Danish mmusketeers
Duth (Netherlands) 17th Century Musketeers are definitely faster shooters. I haven't played them in a while, but I never noticed that this special ability was removed in any of the recent patch notes.
Easy to test: in a match against the AI capture some peasants from another faction, and make a small formation of each kind of musketeer Dutch and Generic...and see who fires faster :-)
Now to answer your question, it really depends on your play-style. Serdiuks are great shooters, but they are slower to create, even with multiple barracks and many other factions can overwhelm them with armored pikes and mercenaries. Ukraine can't create foot melee units, and once melee units close with them, it's all over, basically. Quite frankly, when I PvP against Ukraine I'm usually not intimidated, even if I lose--and I usually lose because I let my opponent get a critical mass of cavalry. Serdiuks usually aren't in the equation or are support units for the cav. Against the Ukrainian AI, I often save it for last because it really isn't that much of a threat. I honestly am confused why it has a reputation for being OP.
Denmark/Prussia/Hungary/France have a more deserved reputation of having OP to God Tier shooting infantry.
Saxon Royal guards, IMO are the best cavalry. Having high attack and defense stats, armor, good creation time, and cost.
Winged Hussars, by far are the best raiding type unit for basically the same reasons as Saxon Royal Guards, but can be used as a harassment type unit, instead of a heavy cav type unit.
Algerian Archers, fully upgraded, are pretty mean too and very spammable. Plus they can take down buildings far earlier than European factions can consider it...since European factions have to "wait" for mortars or other artillery. Yeah, yeah, mercenary grenadiers, but an Algerian PLAYER could have hundreds of Archers by the time you get 72 of the mercs together. And the real deal archers totally outclass their mercenary counterpart at any stage of the game.
Anyway, that's just some thoughts. The "Best Unit" is going to depend on your play-style. It's one of the things I like about this game. A lot of people seem to prefer later game line infantry battles, in which case Prussia/Denmark/Hungary (or any faction with a high-damage long range shooter) is going to excel. Prussia and Denmakr are tied for best, IMO.
If you like long range bombardments...well, there really isn't a faction that excels in that. You can literally pick any faction and just prioritize upgrading cannons and howitzers.
If you like heavy cav, I'd go with Saxony. If you like harassment cav, I'd go with Poland.
If you like early game rushes, I'd pick Switzerland--they have a better Pikemen than most. I think it's either tied or just barely tied with Russia, which is usuall classed by players as having the best spear-type unit in the early game.
