They have the best sword infantry in the game--which is important because if you play a variety of nations, you'll notice that many nations have a weakness to swords unless fully upgraded. A lot of players don't bother getting the last few tiers of upgrades on defense because most people use pikes. Scottish sword clansman are basically like "foot cavalry" high health, move speed, and attack values and also have some resistances to bullet and cannon (but cannot be upgraded as Scotland has no armor upgrades).
They are like Poland in that their cavalry is very powerful early game, but once your opponent has 4 Stables and producing Cuirasseers it's pretty much GG for your lancers. Lancer upgrades are also puzzelingly expensive and honestly not that good--don't get me wrong you need them so buy them, but other nations have an easier time with their cav. The raiding cavalry is like the Sich Cossacks...they kinda suck, but can be fielded in large numbers and are...well, raiders.
All in all it's an interesting faction to play. I think it's fairly balanced as well. There's no reason why a skilled Scotland player is at a disadvantage against any other nation if the opponent has equal skill, IMO. But we'll see how the meta evolves with Scotland.
Great response! thanks man :)
