How do I put Slimes in the box?

Does anyone know how the slime box works? I've been trying to put some of my extra slimes away but it doesn't seem to work.

Hi Cocoa! if you open up the box, anything past 10 slimes should automatically get sent there!

Otherwise if you click on them, you can hit send to box on the radial menu!
