They shutdown online service for the game since June 1st 2021 because it is an old game. You can check this website for the updated list:
https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthread.php/1241617-Online-Services-Update-Forums
For this game you do need to sign into your Ubisoft Account to authorize the game (as stated on the Steam store page for the game), this means you need to download the new Ubisoft Connect launcher or update the old Uplay launcher, that came bundled with the game originally.
You can download the new Ubisoft Connect launcher from this website -

could you please update the games steam repository with the new "Ubisoft Connect Launcher"?
I try to run this game on Linux by using "Steam Play".
-There, I have no chance to manually download/install the new launcher. It must be included with the default game package.
Please note that this would also help Windows users, which don't already have installed the current Ubi launcher and didn't dig up this thread.
We made a few changes recently that meant players had to re-enter their passwords to play some of our older games. However, some players are receiving this 'service not available' message when trying to do so.
Do you have two-factor authentication set up on your Ubisoft Connect account? If so, please make sure the device you are launching the game on is set as a 'trusted device.' Here's our support article[www.ubisoft.com] showing how to do that. Set your device as trusted, and then try to launch the game - does that solve the issue?
If you still have this error, or if you didn't have 2FA set up in the first place, please let me know, and I'll investigate further.
@Ozone - thanks for your feedback about the game package. As you might know, we don't officially support running games on Linux, or through Steam Play, but I take your point that this change would be of help to Windows users as well, and I've noted it down as feedback. Thanks again!

Hey samoyla,
Thank you for getting in touch!
Have you also tried reinstalling the Ubisoft Connect PC client?
If so, as you're running the game via Ubisoft Connect rather than Steam, could you please contact us directly via our Support Site[ubi.li], Facebook[ubi.li] or Twitter[ubi.li].
Thank you!
