Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

This game is a buggy mess.
Alright so i have played this game for only 14 minutes and let's see what i have witnessed:
- After pressing shift+tab the game won't let me do anything anymore, which is real funny considering you have to shift+tab to close the box that tells you your code
- Even though i have enabled subtitles in the settings there were no subtitles in the cutscene
- Even though i have enabled tutorials there were no tutorials
And my favorite
- After pressing escape to try and pause the game i discovered that trying to pause the game literally causes it to freeze
What kind of piece of ♥♥♥♥ game freezes when you pause it?! It's the first time i've ever heard of such a thing happening.
And all that in just 14 minutes?
Is there any fix to all this or should i just refund the game?

Ah yes i forgot to mention that after i discovered that pausing the game causes it to freeze i closed the game to try to play again and when i pressed 'continue' i was stuck in an infinite loading screen.
This game truly baffles me.

Had the same problem a year back, thought it's cause I didn't have WIN10 at the time. Upgraded my windows and PC since and still can't play, tried everything.

Huge shame, I really wanted to experience this PoP as well

Hello thanks for posting about the issues you have encountered so far.

As the game was never originally released for WIndows 10, have you tried running the games .exe file in compatibility mode, in case some of these issues are caused by compatibility?

The game was originally released for the following Windows platforms -
Windows XP (SP3) / Windows Vista (SP2) / Windows 7

-Locate the games .exe file which can usually be found here -
Steam Library/Prince of Persia - The forgotten sands/Prince of Persia.exe
- Right-click on the games .exe executable game file and select Properties, and then select the Compatibility tab
- Try adjusting the settings in the Compatibility tab manually for different Windows OS versions
- Click Apply then OK
- Finally try launching the game by double clicking on its .exe file

It may be worth trying to download some older versions of DirectX you may need, if the installation has not already added these Direct X files on to your PC.

You can download older versions of DirectX here -
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Please let me know how you get on in the game after running the games .exe file using and older Windows OS?

Worked for me to use Win7 compatibility, but did cause some lag. I just removed the compatibility mode once I was passed the bug in the Terrace.

this will fix it

reinstalled ubi conneect with admin rights, like you have said
made the game comp to xp3 , gave the exe admin rights and disabled full screen optimizations. if you dont, you will get crazy artifacting in cut scenes and gameplay

Hey Dumpty, thanks for reaching out. I'll be happy to help you get the game running :steamhappy:

Please start with our troubleshooting guide[www.ubisoft.com], In particular from that guide, please make sure you've updated your graphics drivers and operating system, you've verified the game files, and you don't have any unnecessary background programs interfering with the game.

If that doesn't work, please try using compatibility mode. Although Windows 7 should be fine, I'd recommend trying to run the game in Windows XP mode anyway, just for testing. Please see our compatibility mode guide[www.ubisoft.com] for help in how to use compatibility mode.

If the game still doesn't start up, we'll be able to troubleshoot further with the help of some system files[ubi.li] - a DxDiag.txt and an MsInfo.txt. The article I've linked there will show you how to find each of them.

Once you have those files, you can reach out to us via our support website[support.ubisoft.com], or via Facebook PM[ubi.li] or Twitter DM[ubi.li], to send them across, and we'll be able to use them to investigate the issue.

Sorry for the long post - let me know if I can clarify any of these steps :steamhappy:
