Dark Deception

Dark Deception

Dark Deception Theory
Let me start of with this:
I've noticed that all the enemies in this game seem to be themed after thing associated with a child:
Level 1 (Monkey Business) - cymbal-banging monkey toy
Level 2 (Elementary Evil) - a doll (or possibly an imaginary friend, as i think there is a picture of her with the words "best friend" written above or below it in the level)
Level 3 (Deadly decadence) - a porcelain figure
Level 4 - a rubber ducky
The robot pig, chicken, and rabbit - stuffed animals
The weird clown doll thing - a weird clown doll
My point is this:
In Five Nights at Freddys 4, Scott had planned the game to end with the realization that none of it was real, and that it was all a storyline in the mind of a possibly comatose child.
What if thats whats happening here?
What if this is all a dream, inspired by some kid's toys, and maybe the child's parents?
Again, this is probably wrong, but still...
If anyone wants to disprove this, please do. I'm open to new ideas.

Well for one thing, its much too adult material for it to be a child dreaming if it was and from what you can see in the secret rooms, either your character is guilty and a pretty bad person or the monsters them selves have a bad History and that is why they are there in the first place.

Five nights at freddies was not meant to be a dream, only FNAF 4 was and you can tell this by medication appearing or disappearing from the desk next to the bed.

The statues in Deadly decadence are not porcelain but solid gold and if you read the signs in the mansion, it may be a sort of hell for the rich and greedy or for the poor to be judged by them.

Also try to be careful mentioning Five night's at freddie's in the dark deception community as we tend not to like having this game compared to other games. This game was originally made before FNAF and it was only later that one of the sceduled chapters became about animatronics.

First, let me apologize for comparing Dark Deception to FNaF. I was only referencing a game with an "it was all a dream" resolution.

Second, like I said, my theory is probably, if not definitely, wrong. But still, you have to admit there is a very toy-ish aspect to all of the enemies. Any theories on why that could be?

Edit: Third, I noticed that some of the statues in Deadly Decadence were gold, but remember that out in the hedge maze the statues were white in color. The 'gold' was probably, as you said yourself, added to reprisent greed.

Fourth, on the subject of the watchers, the fact that they only move when you are not looking could be symbolic of them doing something behind someone else's back.

No Problem! I myself have no issues with fnaf being referenced, i was just warning you that some people hate how they are compared. I think the statues in the garden are gold too but I will go check to make sure. It would be much cooler if they were different then in the mansion though.

I love the part you added about them moving when not looked at means they maybe doing something behind someones back!

You know, I just realized that there might be a metric ton of symbolism in each of the levels. Not saying that they are the actual souls of people wronged in the game's 'real world' but they might be metaphors for different events, considering the audio diaries and the little easter-eggs hidden in each level. From what I can remember, the Mr. Monkeys level had some cutouts and signs that implied a murder had taken place; there were some scribbles in Agatha's level implying that she and her mother were killed in a car accident, possibly by her father; in the watchers level (and, I think, a corresponding audio diary) there are a few nods to possibly satanic rituals performed by the people who became the watchers. I wonder what will be implied in the Dread Duck's level. What could the Dread Duck reprisent...? Any ideas?

For that matter, any ideas on the mechanics of the Dread Duck? So far, each new monster has had a unique way of attacking / stalking the player. Here's my prediction; Dread Duck will aimlessly float around the sewers until it spots you, then it will reveal its legs and mercilessly chase you until it catches you or you get away. The new ability will make it easier to get away somehow.

In twitter the Devs said:
"Its pretty hard to run when your waste deep in water."
I don't think that's the exact thing they said but it was along those lines. I think there will be sewage water covering the whole level making you slower or water in some parts of the level to make you slower while the duck gets faster. It is a rubber duck after all and they would be faster on water then on land.

I believe there is a metric thousand tons of symbolism in this game. In the beginning of monkey business, beirce says: "Bring back any memories?" This could be extremely meta about the original game or it could be about the character being familiar with the monkeys and hotel.

On the subject of monster mechanics, I have a theory on the way the animatronic monsters will behave; they will all be docile, if not outright friendly, to the player at the beginning. However, they will have "missions" that they want you to do for them, and will chase you if you don't (i.e. the pig will want you to bring it food, otherwise it morphs into it's terrifying form and eats you). More than likely, at least one of them will morph into its evil form if you collect too many shards. Again, just a theory.

Okay, this is the last one, I swear. I remember hearing somewhere that the protagonist was originally supposed to be a police officer. Maybe he still is. My theory is that every single one of these rooms actually represent a case he worked on: a murder by a butler (Mr. Monkey), the death of a girl in a car crash (Agatha), illegal goings on at a high-society manner (The Watchers), something vile in a sewer (Dread Duck), something sinister at a meat-processing plant (The Animatronics)... Maybe that's why Bierce is using HIM, where everyone else she tried to use failed and became a soul shard.

I just remembered that there was an icon of Bierce as the final level. That would still fit, if she was the last case he was investigating before "It was done", whatever that means.

The devs said they scrapped the beirce portal as old artwork and it seems malak is more likely to be the last portal.

Oh. Still, the others could be based on his cases. I remember they said that they scrapped the old protagonist character model but they never said that he *wasn't* a police officer (or detective or whatever).
