Yes, the Wii version and PC version are more in depth than the DS version was, as I understand it. I only saw someone play the DS version for a short while but they said that it didn't have any building of your own furniture or some other things that I don't remember now.

It is just that the handheld and mobile devices weren't capable of as much as the "bigger" consoles, so they made versions for them so that people who didn't have the other consoles could still play something as close to the game as they could. :) Game developers of more in depth games still have to do this these days for devices like the Switch. It seems like a decent compromise to increase inclusiveness.
