「Fox」 Here's a bonus story from development. April 5, 2025 (JST) 17:33

In this game, a fox character appears in a mascot-like role.
Within the development team, we call her KITA KITSUNE, using the Japanese pronunciation.

In Japan, there is a type of fox known as the "Kita Kitsune" (North Fox).
It’s named this way because it inhabits the northern regions of Japan, literally meaning “northern fox.”

As some of you may have already guessed, I enjoy wordplay,
so I combined the Japanese expression “Kita!” (meaning "It's here!" or "It’s come!")?often used when something exciting arrives?
with "Kita Kitsune", and thus the pun-based name KITA KITSUNE was born.

This character’s name is 琥ノ芭.
A mystical fox with amber-like clear eyes, appearing and disappearing like leaves dancing in the wind.
Her name is Konoha（琥ノ芭）. yes, that’s KONOHA.

At this point, Japanese players may immediately catch on to the meaning.

For those overseas, here’s a bit of cultural context:
In Japanese folklore, foxes (kitsune) and raccoon dogs (tanuki) are believed to have the power to transform into humans.

このゲームにはマスコット的にキツネのキャラクターが出てきます。
彼女は日本語発音でKITA KITSUNEと開発チームでは呼んでいます。

日本には「北狐」（KITAKITSUNE）と呼ばれる狐がいます。
これは日本の北部にいる事から、北の狐＝北狐と呼ばれています。

既に露呈していますが、私は言葉遊びが好きなので、
チャンスが到来することを日本語で「キタ！」と表現する部分と合わせて、
キタキツネ（KITA KITSUNE）とダジャレで命名しました。

そして、このキャラクターの名前は「琥ノ芭」と言います。
琥珀のように澄んだ瞳を持ち、風に舞う葉のように現れては消える神秘の狐。
その名は「琥ノ芭（このは）」
はい、KONOHAです。

ここで日本人の方はピンと来るでしょう。

海外の人に説明すると、日本では狸と狐は人に化ける事が出来るという昔話があります。
