Five Nights at Freddy's 2

So does Scott approve or disapprove of fangames?
So here's the story: Someone said Scott gave him permission for a fangame via email (the fnaf 3 fanmade creator), but another person's (freddy fazbear's pizzeria) was shut down by Scott only a matter of hours after he sent an e-mail to Scott about it. Scott emailed him later an automated reply saying fangames are OK as long as you don't use his assets.

FNaF 3 fanmade creator claims his game is approved by Scott. Meanwhile, Fazbear Entertainment, played by xxProClassGamerxx and many more, is untouched. I made Fazbear Entertainment, by the way. (which requires FNaF 1 to play or it won't launch) Scott acts as if it doesn't exist. So, mind to explain/discuss?

You can find the FFP thread where Scott shut it down here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/332800/discussions/0/624075566816302074/
At page 3, final reply.

I'm not 'continuing'. I'm doing something that thousands of people have been asking for for months, multiplayer.

I never understood why people wanted mutiplayer, seems silly. Unless Scott wants to add Mutiplayer at somepoint you should be fine. I'm refering to things like the weird five nights at freddy's 3 fangame

Well yeah I wouldn't really care if it was shutdown if it officially had multiplayer, because it would be much better than mine.

The only thing I saw you say is "The game is badly coded." That's not constructive, and I don't appreciate non-constructive criticism.
He actually did post an idea. I'm surprised none of you noticed it. Perhaps you guys were too carried away in the argument and couldn't be bothered to fully read his post. Here it is.

An idea might be to do a checksum of the .exe created by Scott, I imagine a pirated version would have a different .exe and therefore a different checksum.

Depending if you use the assets, gameplay, or stuff like that.

I'm confused by all this piracy talk? I mean... who would pirate FNAF? If they can't afford the 5-8 dollars for the game, then... to be frank; They're too young to play. Don't pirate kids!

But yeah... on topic; I don't know personally if he'd approve or not, but... I imagine if you credit Scott in the begginning sequence of the game it shouldn't be an issue, since you claiming all characters and what-not are copyright of Scott Cawthon. And if you're not making a profit from it, then you should be golden.

You can also try emailing Scott, and see what he has to say:

What about recreating said game, use same storyline, and add something extra? And shipping it as free.

He probably wouldn't approve of it. I'm the creator of the previous fangame that got shutdown and it was clear in black and white in the credits: "Credits for everything goes to Scott Cawthon". Not only that, in the email I sent him, I included this: "Would you like me to make the game available to FNAF users only?" but he still shut it down. As for the FNAF 3 fangame creator getting permission, I don't believe that till I see a picture. As to why Fazbear Entertainment hasn't been shut down, its most likely because no one has sent an email about Fazbear Entertaniment to Scott's BUSINESS email. (I sent mine there and whoop de dee, the following day it got shut down). If anyone has sent it to his business email, he most likely didn't see it as he is taking a break for Christmas. Also, I doubt Scott would be afraid to shut it down due to fans complaining or because of how much popularity it gained. He already has plenty of popularity so that isn't a question.

That'd take more money on your part than it's worth :c I personally would just make it a digital download, instead of an actual physical copy. But if I were you I'd check with Scott before all else, just to be sure. Better safe than sorry ^ ^;

Oh gosh D: Sorry that happened to you :c Maybe Scott has his own personal reasons for not wanting fan games. In all honesty I don't blame him. Not that there's anything wrong with fanworks, but if a fangame boosted in popularity, free of charge, that might damage his profits. He has a wife and kids to think about, so, I can't judge him for that.

But yeah, it doesn't hurt to ask. He can either approve or deny, it's ultimately up to him in the end.

Nah, it's fine. It is up to him in the end, but like I stated, I doubt he will leave any of the fangames using his assets up. He probably just hasn't noticed them

I think the problem with your game that was shut down was that in the end it would have been a free version of the game with even more content than the original. So people would get that version instead of the actual game, and it would hinder Scott's business. I'm not sure how he feels about Fazbear Entertainment, but the FNaF3 fangame is pushing it and I wouldn't be surprised if it got shut down.

Fazbear Entertainment is literally the same game, just with multiplayer. Also, it doesn't include the original's nights, story etc.

The thing is that it doesn't have any of the extra content or easter eggs the original game has, and it requires 4 other people to play with you to get a similar experience.

You can just start the game 4 times on the same PC and connect them all to the same server. Fazbear Entertainment also has the easter eggs that the original game has, such as Freddy's Nose.
