how often do you have to flash foxy?

Title says it all, I seem to run out of battery at night 6(didn't happen so far because I died before it ran out, but I already had 1 bar left at like 3 am or so), in order to prevent that(and music box related deaths) I need to know how often you have to flash foxy when he appears in the hall. Are 2 short pushes before/after camera enough or do I need to do like 8 short pushes or even a long one? Last time foxy got me even though I flashed, so I guess I do something wrong.

5 short pushes work best, and you should do it every time you close the camera.
