An "incident" on day 4 puts them to not being friendly with the staff, which spikes the difficulty from here on out. (at this point the "possessed by childrens souls" theory can work)
The "endo/costume" explanation Phony Guy gives is probably just a ploy by Fazbear Entertainment, which already is known to not give two sh*ts about your safety.
You are right that it does not work with the second games plot.
I still like to believe that the first game is an allegory for the incident at Chuck E Cheese and the second game is made from the sucess of the first one, even though it is not relevent to the same allegory. Instead the story is being developed to take a new direction and likely has the same use of symbolism, references and character developement... only we do not yet know what they relate to.
