That was the purple guy, not Marionette. But I do agree that he is controlling the old ones, but how?
Yep.
This does beg the question as to the nature of the Bite of '87, though. My guess to that, according to the Foxy Death Mini-Game, is that that one day, with the adult, presumably Jeremy Fitzgerald monitoring the situation because of the increased hostility of the Animatronics, Foxy went out to entertain the children like Foxy normally does but found the children otherwise indisposed or hurt. Food poisoning from bad pizza, perhaps? Or maybe they were all, at the time, playing dead for a Birthday Game? Anyways, with the children otherwise unable to see Foxy, Foxy then turned on Jeremy to "protect" the children, thus bringing about the Bite of '87. Of course, that is just my own personal theory.
Back to the Marionette, though. My honest thought is that, originally, the Marionette is what is causing the malfunctions and glitches of the Animatronics, making the problem in the beginning purely a mechanical one. Then the murders happen, and, according to the one Death Mini-Game, where we play as the Marionette, we're giving life to deceased children who then become Freddy, Bonnie, Foxy, and Chica. Then, we get to the paranormal stuff. Of course, we have to wonder whether or not the issue with the Marionette originally revolves around the mechanical or the paranormal and I honestly believe we'll learn more if we get an opportunity to explore the original Fredbear's Family Diner.
