How important is "The Puppet" in Five Nights at Freddy's 2?
The puppet is by far one of the most annoying enemies in FNAF2, but I wonder if it's character has a much MUCH larger impact on the story then you're lead to believe, reasons why I believe this is because at the end of every night you get a flash forward to FNAF1 and by night 4 end you see the puppet floating in front of your view, not making much movement but staying in sight , with the last part saying "It's me" at the end of the Flash forward. Could this mean the puppet has been controlling all the Animatronics this whole time? Post what you think in the comments.

The Puppet is the main reason why the Old and New ones attack you. It most likely is also the reason for the Bite of 87' and the child incident.

From a gameplay standpoint tho the Puppet is all important, Prize Corner is the Pirates Cove of FnaF 2 but this time around you're forced to stay in the camera a bit longer to actually wind it up.

The minigames seem to hint at the puppet being the ghost of the first child victim, and the one who guided the souls of the other slain children into the animatronics. The purple lines down the puppet's face represent the child's tears before they died.

Even though this motherhumper is scared of a b l o o d y music box, he is actually the main antagonist. Dont know why, he maybe reactivated the old ones?

That was the purple guy, not Marionette. But I do agree that he is controlling the old ones, but how?

The puppet might be important to lore, but for me it's just a cheap way to not let you wear the mask the entire game...

My guess, as well, is that the Marionette is the one who is controlling the other Animatronics to attack adults. I say adults, because according to Phone Guy, the Animatronics don't seem to mind children at all. Hell, in the Death Mini-Games, we're clearly trying to entertain/appease/protect the children. Of course, this does beg the question as to why the Animatronics don't outright attack adults on sight during the day like they do to you at night without the Freddy mask on but, I believe that also has to do with protecting the children. How? Well, it'd be pretty damn awful for a kid to see an Animatronic tear apart a nearby adult, wouldn't it? My guess is that the Animatronics want to kill what they perceive are the dangerous adults but at the same time want to spare the children the gruesome sight of it all.

This does beg the question as to the nature of the Bite of '87, though. My guess to that, according to the Foxy Death Mini-Game, is that that one day, with the adult, presumably Jeremy Fitzgerald monitoring the situation because of the increased hostility of the Animatronics, Foxy went out to entertain the children like Foxy normally does but found the children otherwise indisposed or hurt. Food poisoning from bad pizza, perhaps? Or maybe they were all, at the time, playing dead for a Birthday Game? Anyways, with the children otherwise unable to see Foxy, Foxy then turned on Jeremy to "protect" the children, thus bringing about the Bite of '87. Of course, that is just my own personal theory.

Back to the Marionette, though. My honest thought is that, originally, the Marionette is what is causing the malfunctions and glitches of the Animatronics, making the problem in the beginning purely a mechanical one. Then the murders happen, and, according to the one Death Mini-Game, where we play as the Marionette, we're giving life to deceased children who then become Freddy, Bonnie, Foxy, and Chica. Then, we get to the paranormal stuff. Of course, we have to wonder whether or not the issue with the Marionette originally revolves around the mechanical or the paranormal and I honestly believe we'll learn more if we get an opportunity to explore the original Fredbear's Family Diner.
