Theory: Purple Man used Springtrap to lure the kids.

Think about it, the phone guy said in FNAF 2 that "someone used a yellow suit in the back" meaning it could be Golden Freddy, or Springtrap. Apparently Springtrap has been in all the games, because one of the teasers months ago said "I'm still here.", and was meant to be worn on a human, not Golden Freddy. Also, at the end of FNAF 3, the Purple Man went in Springtrap, although the spring mechanism failed (hence the name, Springtrap, and the old phone guy explains how to put it on, also meaning it was there in FNAF 2 and 1) which led him getting killed by the springs in the suit.

hey i had a glitch were on night 6 i started it up and chica was there and when i got to 4am the music box went off and i pulled my mask on when chica was in front of me and she was there for 25 seconds and the puppet master killed me. Was this a glitch or rare sceen. please tell me

Honestly, my guess, is most was left out for the player to make the story up with their own mind. Or scott is lazy.

But I think the purple guy was just the security guard, which is why they are after you, they just remember it was the guard that did it and they want revenge. Just my guess.. Idk exactly.

If ya compare fnaf2 minigames to the real game of fnaf2 it looks like the animatronics are the good guys, (Not including the puppet) and in the real game they try to kill you. Thats why either mike or jeremy is the purple guy. Also, WHO IN THE WORLD IS THE NEW SECURITY GUARD!?

What I am witnessing is you are saying its a security guard. Know who else was a security guard? Phone Guy. However you did say yourself nothing is certain so far so Phone Guy may or may not be a reasonable answer. In 1 they end up killing Phone Guy but when he died it seems all animatronics were desperate in his death. It seems the children that possessed the robots just figured out it was him instead of being 'maybe?' So when they figured it out they threw everything at him in attempt to kill him. Which of course succeeded. But of course the first game came after 2 in the timeline and we can tell Phone Guy wasn't being desperately killed back then. My answer can also be supported by the rare screen we sometimes get (I never got it but I know someone personally who did) when we play the minigame as Freddy as we follow the marionette. Sometimes Purple Man charges us with a night guard security badge and something in his hand. As its hard to tell what exactly it is it seems to me and apparently a few million others to be a phone. Marionette is most likely the crying child in the minigame where u play as the only animatronic, Freddy giving cake to children. In this we see a child crying outside when Purple Man drives up and kills him. The tear tracks are still on the body, and the marionette jumps at you during the minigame's end. Which is why we think he probably became the marionette. Of course another minigame shows that the marionette was the one that had the next 5 children's sould possess the old animatronics. Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and Golden Freddy. Now there are 6 souls trying to get revenge on the killer, starting with marionette. During the same call when Phone Guy says his favorite animatronic is Foxy, he also says he 'never liked that puppet thing' which is the marionette. If I were the killer and knew my first victim possessed a robot, and forced my next 5 victims into possessing more now are trying to find and kill me I would especially not like the first one. Because of course he started it all.

Everything I said and the more stuff I missed can be said by the video I gathered my information from. You would probably have a better understanding of what he says since its what he does. I would suggest looking at the video and atleast putting this possibility into the back of your mind.
