I personally prefer to see and depict the mangle as a male character.
ever since his reveal in fnaf 2 the mangle was first referred to as a male, phone guy refers to him by 'him, he's, him' in the night 3 phone call, having him having only ever had male pronouns up until that was only recently changed with ucn, in which he uses 4 more pronouns, 'his, he, he, her', with still only one of them being feminine. aside from just fnaf 2 mangle having 5/6 male pronouns, both phantom and nightmare mangle are referred to exclusively with male pronouns in ucn.
So aside from the actual confirmed pronouns we have for him, we can continue to theorise based off of appearance (:
Most people would probably argue that mangle 'looks female', though I personally disagree. looking at the toy animatronics, one thing to note is the differences between the one confirmed female character, toy chica, and the rest of the confirmed male characters. details like the colours of their cheeks, toy chica having pink, whereas the male characters have red, as does the mangle. things like toy chicas body shape being more slender, whereas from what we've seen of 'toy foxys' body shape from fnaf world, and merch, it more closely resembles a character like toy bonnie, another confirmed male character.
Other common arguments about the physical appearance include mangles eyelashes, to which i say, all of the toys have eyelashes, toy bonnie, and toy freddy included, the lipstick, which i argue accounts for very little, especially since the only other character to have lipstick in the game, the marionette, is also a male character (yes, the puppet is possessed by charlie, but the suit itself was designed for a male character, so the lipstick is on a male suit), and the pink colouration, to which my counterpoint addresses how deep you really wanna go on that. Simple side says, pink is light red, so it makes since for a lighter more pastel foxy, or if you wanna look too far into it, you could argue that due to the time period the game is set in, pink could not be representative of anything at all, because it wasn't universally stereotyped as a 'feminine' colour until likely after the characters were created, or at the least designed, as it fell more into being a stereotype towards the end of the 80's. Alternatively you could argue that pink means nothing on a male character anyway, with funtime foxy being pink, and the original design for funtime freddy being pink.
The best evidence ya'll have against this to me would be the voice, to which still doesn't prove anything fully, as there are two audible voices, a male and a female, the girls voice is just clearer as it has less distortion on it. Id write more, but im tired rn
other then that there's the characters actual role to take into play. if he is still a pirate like his counterpart, then it makes the most sense for him to be a male, as girls weren't really allowed on ships. alternatively its theorised he could've been more like a clown character, which would provide further explanation for his makeup. but either way, no matter his role it is most likely 'toy foxy' was originally a male character, even simply based on the fact that he was ripped apart, as children generally see feminine characters as more motherly or nurturing, making it far more likely they'd rip apart the male character.
If I personally were to put down a proper theory though, instead of just saying i see him as a male character, id argue more that 'toy foxy' was a male character, which is why characters who would've known mangle before he was ripped apart, such as phone guy, refer to him as a male, which would also suggest why phantom and nightmare mangle are referred to as male, since they're both hallucinations/nightmares of at least one of the brothers, who would most likely have known the actual character. however as the mangle, it took on a different identity, new patrons seeing it as a female due to the lack of evidence after its destruction, while old patrons still see it as a male, causing an ambiguous identity to be formed with people just referring to it as whatever they want.
I feel dumb now.. Anyways! Great work, I now agree Mangle is a yes. She looks KINDA like a girl though. The reason i say this is because the Mangle looks like she has longer eyelashes then the other and in real life, Girls tend to have long eyelashs' (is that correct grammer? Pardon me.) And i would say toy chica does too. I agree toy foxy is male though.. Phone guy.. Always making it hard on us, once being annoying, Now he is just making it legit so hard to figure out mangle's gender. Good theory!
