Not really worth the effort

Alright, to be honest, I owned this game on Xbox 360 and I actually enjoyed it. I was a teen then, probably 15 or 16. I liked the movie and it was cool being able to play as an Avatar.

Fast forward more than a decade (I'm 30 this year T.T) and the new movie came out and it made me curious about the game. So I went onto Steam and noticed it had been removed. Seems their licensing to keep the game published had expired. No problem. It's an old game and I'm sure I can find it online. While I don't really support pirating (a whole different discussion), I didn't really have a choice if I wanted to play the game, as its just not found anywhere anymore.

So using some torrenting and a VPN, I downloaded the game which took about 10 minutes. Then it took an additional 30 minutes or so for me to get my key and install reshade for some nice post-processing. The key gen needs to be excluded from your antivirus and the Avatar game needs to be ran as an administrator (for the key to work).

So setup altogether was probably about 2 hours from start to finish, from searching for it, to downloading, to installation, to key generating to reshade. Not too shabby.

Oh boy, this game definitely deserves to be left in your memories. I was very disappointed with it. Not talking about graphics, I play older games all the time. This game actually still looks relatively decent, though the shadows and effects are absolutely terrible. No, its the actual gameplay. The gun mechanics feel like GTA San Andreas, you don't have a sprint button, you have a "sprint skill" which does this motion blur effect where you move like 1.2x your normal speed for like 3 seconds (probably the worst sprint mechanic of all time), the map is 100% linear and the story is absolute dogsh!t.

I remembered the game being a lot better. Spoiler alert.
It sucks.

Wait for the new game to release. Leave this one alone. It's not worth the time and effort.

I loved this game and would love to get it on steam. I wish I did buy it when it was on steam but I had it on 360 like you and now I don't console anymore and am sad to this day that I can't get in on steam right now.

FYI to anyone who reads this and wants to try the game, it's on Abandonware, don't go torrenting from random websites like this guy, just to play this old game it's totally unecessary.
