And it killed me and then the game just froze...
EDIT
Can't reproduce the freezing - what room were you in?
BTW - the game is designed so the death is generally pretty easy to avoid, but becomes a constant threat if you refuse to carry the hall pass. He always appears from the entrance in the room that you came in through, he never appears in event rooms and rooms with just one entrance. If your game wouldn've froze, the hall pass would've been returned to you by the witches' council.
When I died, the screen went black but I could still see the UI. It stayed like that for like 15 seconds, then I pressed Esc and it closed
Also the first time I launched the game, I left it on the menu while I was getting my Xbox controller, and after a while the title animations stopped and the game crashed. Seems like it happened when I disconnected my tablet to connect the controller
The death crash is super-weird! Never had this happened to anyone here - I'll be looking into it today. The controller swap - that's a common GameMaker Studio thing and I can't fix it no matter what I do. The game didn't crash, but slowed to a crawl. It started fine the next time you fired it up with a controller though, right?
Yeah no problems the second time
I have once attempted some sort of a fail-safe system against the controller-related slowdown, but it ended up misfiring every now and then, disconnecting my perfectly functioning controller. I found this much more irritating than the problem itself.
I wish YoYo fixes this problem once and for all at some point, it's been in GameMaker since GM8. That's, like, 6 years ago!
