Joystick not working

I have a logitech extreme 3D, and this hellish game won't see it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm unable to even see it in the game.
Am I doing something wrong? (beside buying this game)
Is there any magic words I need to say or otherwise do to enable joystick support?

(Windows 8.1, the joystick shows fine under windows)
