so is there a certain technique to farting in this game or does it just happen randomly from mashing the jump button?

It happens randomly, the most reliable way to fart is to sprint for a few seconds.

you can also fart by pressing the jump button. For an example. Lets say you just got shot out of a canon but you wan't to go super far. Just keep pressing the jump button, to fart. This is also shown by lets say your frog is lying on the ground. When pressing the jump button the frog will but its hips in the air and back down. Showing its trying to fart. Doing this like 6 times make the frog fart. Maybe longer depending how many farts the frog will do.

You will get a guaranteed fart if you just press the jump key two times without pressing anything else or moving the character. Press the jump key, the character will jump, press it again while the character is in the air and it will fart 100% of the time.
