Why Is The Fps So Low?

My pc runs Doom (2016) at 70-110 fps at all times on all Ultra settings but at the very lowest settings run this game at 42 fps in swindon. I really want to play this game, but I can't with this Fps. I've heard that this game had fps problems but this is just crazy. Does anyone know a fix?

this is a very commonly answered question in the forums, the game is poorly optimized which is why you are lagging. my only advice would be to lower the population density, or your game resolution.

I get confused because I watch people online play this game and it runs perfect, and I wonder what type of super pc they must have.

unfortunately lowering the resolution will not improve the FPS dramatically because this is a majiorly CPU bottlenecked game, no matter how good your graphics card is, your CPU may still be struggling to provide a good amount of framerate, but fixes for this are in the works and should be included in the next V2 (or as it may become known, V2.5) update.

In the meantime, you may find better performance in pocket mode, in the sewers, on the moon, ect. anywhere other than the full town of swindon. I am aware that this is a rather significant inconveinence, but there isn't that much we as players can do to improve performance at this point in time. you may also be interested in checking out the V3 beta with improved performance available on the betas tab under properties.

I have also found that for whatever reason it seemed to run better on an iMac than my much more powerful gaming PC, I believe the game prefers high clock speed intel processors

Yeah my PC literally runs the hideout at 120 fps and then when I go to Swindon it lags like crazy, im talking 15-5 fps. I turned the graphics to “Raccoon Town” which kinda made it better, but I had problems such as certain roads would not render or the beach was nonexistent.

i run games fine on 15 to 20 fps and i don't have an issue, probably because i'm used to my bad laptop, 42 fps seems more than enough imo
