Amazing Frog?

Amazing Frog?

Beyond frustrated- BEWARE
I am beside my self with this game and this company. My 8 year old wanted this game. So he did a bunch of chores to earn the $16. I download the game and it is basically unplayable. The exits of the hideout, at least I assume they are the exits are blocked by some red sheet and you immediately die if you touch it. So basically he can walk around the hideout for $16. I have requested a refund twice explaining this but because he left the game up over night, there is no X to close the game, and he's 8 so he didn't know to alt f4 to close it, so they basically say I'm screwed. This is absolutely ridiculous and I would advise anyone to use caution when dealing with this company.

I'm sorry that you're frustrated,
However this is not all there is to the game, that can be fixed,
This is from the Frequently asked questions:

(Make sure you're logged in to steam)

3 - While in the hideout, the phone won't work, there are lasers blocking the exits and there's a shark in the middle of the room
~
To avoid pirate scumbags, there is a system that will trigger those weird events in order to ruin their stolen fun. If you're not a pirate scumbag, here's how you can fix it. (don't try if you have a pirated copy of the game, it won't work :) )

Launch the game from the Steam Client: If you're trying to run from the executable file you won't be able to play the game, you need to use Steam, it's a mandatory requirement.

Verify the integrity of the cache: Use the same steps as explained before, here's how to do it again:
- Go to your Steam library
- Right click on Amazing Frog? game
- Select properties
- Click on the local files tab
- Click on the button that says "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
- Wait for the verification and don't try to launch the game
- After the verification of the cache, launch the game and it should be working

You could also try restarting steam,

Still not working?: If you're not pirating the game and those two solutions didn't work, report the problem on the forums and the developers will try to help you out.

Thanks for your help. Just tried all of this again and I still have the red lasers. It's not pirated, I downloaded and paid for it thru steam. Any other suggestions? At this point I really just want my money back and I would think that any reputable company would issue a refund considering I downloaded this yesterday.

I'm sorry about that,
So I looked into it a little more and I guess the app is finding it difficult to validate as a steam game, and apparently it's a slightly common bug,

So my next suggestion would be to either
Uninstall and reinstall, and maybe open and close it several times,
I know it's annoying, but it worked for several people.
And someone else might have a better solution.

Otherwise I'm not sure,
it might also be fixed in the next update (soon-ish)
I hope something works out.

Unfortunately for a refund you need to have less than 2 hours of game time,
And you have around 13, but since you have it in your library that can be proof that it's not pirated, so that's good.
and like I said hopefully it either gets patched or a mod or a developer sees this.

I explained why it shows 13 hours already, but no matter how long I had on the game if it is basically non-functional, that should be enough to warrant a. Refund. No one could seriously think I wandered around the same room for 13 hours.

I agree,
I hope they get back to you on that,
Unfortunately the fayju team consists of only two developers, and a moderator (zeron)
But hopefully they still find time to deal with these issues (like refunds and bugs)
And again, sorry, I hope you understand.

Sometimes logging out of steam and back in helps. For some people the problem fixes itself after a while, so if nothing else works just check on it occasionally

For it to work u have to play through ur steam library and not a desktop shortcut

Do you have a decent computer?

I also had the lasers and such but Valve wouldn't allow anyone to say they have updates for their game like the santa thing and then have a blocked in room just for fun.
rollerdick Jan 29, 2017 @ 9:47am
then I fixed it.

Sorry you are having these troubles, did you reach a resolution?
I am looking into the reason why this sometimes happens.
Its very tricky for us. Amazing Frog is massively pirated and thats why we put safeguards in. They are not perfect but each update we try and make them work a little better. There is another update coming very soon. are you playing the most recent version f0.2.8d? also what platform and computer is this on?
