GRAV
Ascension/Prestige Mechanic
Grav Ascension/prestige Mechanic

If you reach the max level of 420, you will be given the option to ascend/prestige. The option will be a new tap created next to where the badge tab is. In that tap will ask the player if they are ready to ascend/prestige. If they click the ok, a prompt will show up asking if they are sure they want to ascend/prestige. The prompt will also warn them that it will reset all of their levels completely, however they will get a special blueprint based on judgement, a bonus of their choice, and their ascension/prestige level will go up by one. Their ascension/prestige level will be displayed in parentheses next to your current rank for all other players to see. If the player accepts ascension/prestige, another prompt will show up asking what bonus they want. Here would be good bonuses to pick from:

- 1 active ability that they select. This active ability can be toggled on/off regardless of another active ability that is toggled on. So they can essentially have two active abilities at the same time, but the one they selected is the only one that can be paired with any other active ability until they ascend/prestige again. The active ability can be instantly equipped at level 0 without having to unlock it.

- 5% bonus to resources harvested. 5% bonus to speed of harvesting. 5% more materials harvested. 5% more jackpots. 5% bonus to anything else that has to do with mining. 5% cheaper to craft anything. 5% cheaper to build anything.

- 5% bonus to damage. 5% bonus to weapon speed. 5% bonus to armor rating. 5% bonus to health. 5% bonus to stamina. 5% bonus to health regeneration. 5% bonus to stamina regeneration. 5% bonus to xp gained. 5% bonus to anything else that has to do with combat.

- 10% bonus to movement speed. 10% bonus to jump height. 10% less stamina used. 10% bonus to anything else that has to do with movement.

Any bonus that a player picks is permanent, and will stay with them through every ascension/prestige. When a player ascends/prestiges they lose their levels and stats that go with them. They keep all of their blueprints, any bonus the player selected from ascension/prestige, anything in their inventory, anything they have built, and all of the levels to their passive abilities. Even though their passive ability levels are permanent, they still have to unlock them to be able to use that level. This is to prevent element-x being absolutely wasted. Regardless of what bonus a player picks, they instantly get a 10% xp bonus when they ascend/prestige to help them ascend/prestige again.

After ascension/prestige and picking a bonus, a new prompt will come up telling them that the game will now judge them based upon their actions from when they were level 0 to when they ascend/prestige at level 420. There are 3 judgements: hell, heaven, and spirit.

Hell: If they player has been mostly a jerk. The player would have to destroy items, kill other players, loot bags, etc.

Heaven: If the player has been mostly helpful. If the player avenges peoples death, if the player saves other players from near death, if the player does not destroy bases or items, if the player gives things to others, if the player does not kill anyone, etc.

Spirit: if the player is mostly in the middle. The player would have to have a combination of everything, and not to much of one thing.

When the player is given a judgement, an animation would be played of them getting dragged into hell, lifted into heaven, or disappearing like a spirit i guess. The judgement would not kill the player, but reset them at an uplink or the spawn area.

What special blueprint the player gets upon ascension/prestige depends on what judgement the player got. There will be 3 new armor sets, swords, and guns added to the game. These weapons and armors would be considered superior. Here is what each armor type does:

Demon armor (hell): has the protection and health buff of ore armor. This armor will completely stave off EVERY deadly planet effect including extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme radiation, and extreme low oxygen.

Angel armor (heaven): has extreme protection and an extreme health buff. This is essentially a much better alien tower armor.

Phantom armor (spirit): has the protection and health buff of night killer armor. Each armor piece gives a 2% bonus to each unlocked passive ability. Each armor piece gives a 2% bonus to damage. The armor also gives extreme speed.

Demon sword and angel sword and phantom sword have the same stats for now, but the stats are higher than every other sword. Demon gun and angel gun and phantom gun are all single shot rifles that do a HUGE amount of damage with one shot and they all have the same stats. The guns have the same fire rate of a combat pistol. The guns have an ammo capacity of 30.

Upon earning a gun blueprint by judgement, the player will get an ammo blueprint to go with it. There is demon magazine, angel magazine, and spirit magazine.

A player can not get the same exact judgement blueprint twice. If a player earns all of the angel blueprints for example, if they are judged to heaven again they will receive a blueprint from spirit or hell.

If a player collects hell, heaven, and spirit items, then they combine them into an infinity item blueprint. For example, if a player had the blueprints for the angel helmet, demon helmet, and the spirit helmet, then they can craft all three of them and a new tab will show up next to the ascension/prestige tab. This tab will keep track of all the judgement items a player has crafted. Since this player has crafted all three helmet types, in the new judgement crafting tab will show up an option to combine the three helmets in his inventory into an infinity helmet blueprint. The three helmets MUST be in the players inventory in order to combine them. The helmets will disappear, and the player can now craft an infinity helmet. If the player collects all three types of guns, swords, or other armor pieces, then he can trade those in for infinity blueprints as well.

Infinity armor is a combination of all of the judgement armors, and will be the absolute most powerful armor in the game. So the infinity armor will have the protection and health from the angel armor, the ability to stave off every single deadly planet effect from the demon armor, and the passive ability and damage and speed buffs from the spirit armor. Infinity armor would be extremely difficult to get a full set of because you essentially need to ascend/prestige 15 times. The xp boosts ascension/prestige gives you will help out with reaching level 420 again.

The infinity sword has extreme stats that are twice as good as the judgement sword stats.

The infinity gun is now an assault rifle that shoots twice as fast as the fastest smg, does twice as much damage as the judgement guns. Upon crafting the infinity gun blueprint, you also receive an infinity bullet blueprint. You only need to craft one infinity bullet and have it in your inventory for the infinity gun to operate. If you have an infinity bullet in your inventory, the infinity gun will have an infinite amount of ammo and will never run out. The infinity gun will not be required to be reloaded. This gun would be considered extremely overpowered, but the materials and resources to craft both the gun and bullet will be an extreme amount.

The judgement armors and weapons automatically have their own elemental enchantments on them.

Demon armor/weapons has demon fire element

Angel armor/weapons has angel light element

Spirit armor/weapons has spirit mist element

These elements act similar to how player soul and dark gaia elements act towards each other.

Infinity armor has infinity element which is not weak to any other element. It is strong vs. every other element.

I could leave it up to you guys to figure out what the crafting requirements would be for each armor and weapon. They would all have to be rather expensive because they are all OP in their own way, but not an insane crafting requirement where it is impossible to craft.

The whole point of this whole mechanic is to give something that players can consistently work towards. Currently if players reach level 420 and get all of the blueprints, there is no progression. Infinity armor would be a big goal, but would encourage players to continue to play. The bonuses and judgement blueprints they earn along the way should keep them from getting bored.

And no this whole mechanic wouldnt be insanely OP unless someone actually got full sets of these armors or weapons. It wouldnt be op for most because if someone ascended/prestiged a few times, they could still only be able to make a few items. If a player is dedicated, they will work towards full sets of these armor types. Hopefully this will encourage more players to become dedicated to the game.

I have also been thinking of yet another mechanic i can include in this. Depending on what judgement a player receives, there is a small chance they can receive a hat according to the type of judgement. For example:

Heaven: halo

Hell: horns

Spirit: i am not quite sure on this one... maybe a sheet that goes over your head with eye holes cut out? Lol

Another thing that players can receive if they are lucky during ascension/prestige is that they can receive wingsuit skins.

Heaven: angel wings

Hell: demon wings

Spirit: again i am not too sure on this one. Maybe a ripped sheet with chains in the shape of wings and a glowing green mist around it?

Please share your ideas and thoughts on this whole mechanic!

This was very well stated and explained. The mechanics don't seem at all broken and actually provide more replayablilty (in fact, a ton of it). Sure Infinity Armor is pretty much god mode, but it would take forever to get it and would be worth the effort.

I really want to see these things added... all of it... hudgement, armor, guns, everything. Excellent idea, mate!
Thanks! If the armors are not too op, i still dont think there is a great way to truely know if you are good or bad. Players trade kill all the time and give stuff to players all the time. Maybe there could be a meter where the more good stuff you do it goes up, and the more bad stuff you do it goes down. If the meter leans to far either way you will go to heaven/hell. If it is still somewhat in the middle, you get spirit. Should spirit armor just be removed though? Maybe it can be where a player picks either heaven/hell/spirit and they only get the blueprints from that class until they got them all. When they have them all, they can then pick between the other two classes and get the blueprints from those

I, and many other veteran players, have suggested a system like this a long time ago. Over the last 2 years many players have raced to the max level, stayed a short while and left because they felt there wasn't anything else to achieve. The writer of this thread has suggested a system that will create the longevity that the game sorely needs.

Great idea except the terms demon/angel/hell/heaven, hell scene, heaven scene. Its sci-fi no?
I would suggest "using" the end game Ascension/Prestige Mechanics that Hunt suggested but coming up with a hint of lore for this game.

An Example from a popular tv show:
Ascension/Prestige Mechanic. Ascension was used in the Stargate universe tv series and it was totally science fiction. These ancient beings got so intelligent that they learned how to manipulate their physical body and become energy beings (Ascend). Most of these powerful beings stayed good and didn't interfer with the inferior lives of humans or other creatures made of matter. However some of these powerful beings went rogue and wanted inferior life forms to worship them. In this science fiction universe they didn't call them demons or angels, so my point is it can be done without using such terms.

In Hunt's suggestion I would like to see the demon term/word changed with a word from another language that means: bad, dark side, tyrant, terrible morals, cruel, etc. Skip the Hell scene all together, unless you do a scene where you're dragged to a secret underground world (not hell, but like a hidden planet) where only the Tyrant & Cruel can know of. At this scene you unlock the secrets to obtaining these new armor bp's, so when you play through again these new bp's will drop.

Do the same for angel and heaven, and also that spirit or "middle" universe.

That part where you get judged by the way you play, sounds good, except instead of Heaven was watching you progress, it should be the "Guild of Light" (or another word from a different language meaning the same thing) has been watching you and has taken notice of your worthiness to our cause, etc, then switch over to that special scene at their hidden guild where you unlock the secrets to obtaining new special armor blue prints.

Summary:
Use the Ascension/Prestige Mechanic that Hunt suggested. However, replace the terms/words: angel, demon, heaven, hell, etc. Come up with replacement words which will give a hint of Grav lore instead. "Guild of Light", "Guild of Tyrants", guild of "Threads of Balance". Guild names can be changed to whatever.

I think it sound valid and solid. As always it should be experienced to see if it works as intended. I hope, if its made, it doesnt blow my cutomized server out of the water, but if it does, in my opinion this type of asset to the game is worth it.

What the heck this is a Sci Fi universe. I want to explore planets and build stuff, not become some super spirit being. The game has an awesome unique light hearted exploration feel to it, why would you want to make it like every other game?

Anyways a system for growing past 420 would be cool but keep the envirement of the game to what Grav is which is fun light hearted Sci Fi, not gods vs. demons. 10823983 other games already do that.

yea i know that demons and angels dont fit the scifi theme, i just used them as placeholders and so my post is a bit easier to understand. i was kind of thinking that names for the angel and demon stuff would just be left to bitmonster to figure out, or we could have the community think up names for this stuff? but either way thanks for the feedback! i havent really gotten around to playing much grav lately, but i really should start again

This is impressive, Hunty, you obviously put a lot of thought into it, but wouldn't it just add more of the same? pvp is almost non-existent right now. Hopefully that will improve at some point, but there's no point in having extra armor or weapons if you're just going to fight monsters with very basic AI. The only boss that presents a little challenge is the reaver (zombie) boss. With the area levels capped at 60, once you get to job level 60 there is no challenge killing any monster. The level 65-70 monsters at least took some time to take down. Adding more powerful gear will only lessen the challenge of defeating the monsters. Also, by widening the power gap between players you make it harder to get an even pvp-match.

If the goal of the new gear is just bling, keeping you occupied by collecting stuff, then great, but I don't see any practical purpose to it for the game in its current state.

Hunty's comments bring up a valid problem with the current armor system.
- NK armor is useless.
- AT armor can only be used on non-hazard planets. This is the top armor. You should be able to wear it anywhere without sacrificing the use of abilities.
To give NK and magma armor some usage, you could add a minimum rank requirement on the AT BP drops (level 400 or 420)

I think the focus should be on making the monsters better at fighting (maybe work as packs, triggering others in the group to attack if one is being attacked, homing in on the attack location), and add a bigger planet-specific variety of them (I love the Yetis on the cold planets). Also, make more armor BPs planet type specific (Sunstone/Magma only drops on hot planets, Ore/ElX only on radiation, etc). This would add more purpose to the different planets, and add the challenge that keeps players interested for longer.

Just curious, have you seen grav.clanlynx.com? The lenghtend excisting universe is also more challinging due the fact u run around with the lesser armor for a longer time and that the double xp is disabled. (which is still active on the official since the one universe update)

I think I've read about this before. Every job goes to level 300? That would definitely encourage teamwork. I do feel the armor and weapons BPs drop so fast now that you can often skip a weapon or armor set because you got a better one before you had the opportunity (or the resources) to build the previous one.
