Warning! Game BACK but with DRM (Tages) ! Solution for activation problems inside!

the gold edition need a tages activation, and 1404 i cant activate!

solution:

download new tages drivers from:
http://www.tagesprotection.com/main.htm?page=5.5.htm

And check that you use the correct key for the anno 1404 maingame
It use by default the venice key *stupid*.

@ UBISOFT Both games are NOT uptodate!!

Anno 1404 = V 1.02.2619 newest should be: 1.03.3645
Venedig = V. 2.00.5008 newest should be 2.01.5010

Please give us the newest game updates !!!

Did you try verifying file integrity? Right click game -> properties -> local files

Yup, I did that. Same problem, tried to reinstall the game several times, no fix. The thing is that I only see a black screen and the cursor and then it suddenly crashes.

This seems like another appropriate topic to say it: thanks to Ubisoft for ruining this great game series with idiotic DRM measures. The pirates are laughing at people who buy this. Also: announcing that you will stop using these measures but not giving any support to your old bread & butter titles just pisses legit customers off, especially fans of a particular series like this.

1. The game does not require any DRM anymore. Just Steam.
2. This was first released 5 years ago. Most games are not supported after 2 years, let alone 5. After all, a sequel to Anno 1404 was released 2 or 3 years ago. I am just glad that it is available on Steam again.
3. Piracy is never an answer. Do not like DRM measures in a particular title? Play a different game, maybe the developer will remove DRM in the future or maybe they will decide not to implement it in a sequel.

Which system are you running? It says that it requires XP or Vista, not sure if it works with 7 or 8.

I'm using Win 7 x64, GTX560, i5-3570K, 8GB RAM, running just fine.

Although it may seem strange considering the age of this game: Did you try updating your gfx driver (or reverting to a stable version)?

Also try forcing DX9 http://anno1404.wikia.com/wiki/Engine.ini

Hegemon: I've meant to buy this for quite some time and have been kept away from it because of the DRM, and even now it still lists TAGES on the store page as if the game wasn't worth a correct Steam page. Just because a publisher decides to treat its licenced products like crap doesn't mean gamers and the actual developers should have to put up with this kind of crap.

They are hardly making any money off of this and were likely to pull it off from Steam completely (the game was not available for purchase for quite some time). I do not think it was on top of anyone's mind to update the description page. Important thing - the game works and you can buy it here. If anyone is discouraged by Tages in the description, too bad, they just won't buy it.
