Applying Spriter Pro to Unity
I am using Unity 5.3.3f1 (64-bit). What is the best way to add Spriter project to Unity?

I tried to follow this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiKk3AFKRZ0 but I can't see the player file ( 3.09 part of the video ). All I see is a notepad document.

Hi SephieSky,

Your two options are:

SpriterDotNet.Unity: https://brashmonkey.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4477-spriterdotnetunity/

and Spriter2UnityDX: https://brashmonkey.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3993-spriter-for-unity-50/

SpriterDotNet.Unity supports nearly all Spriter features, but does not convert the animations into native Unity format animations.

Spriter2UnityDX does NOT support all Spriter features (it supports most) but it DOES convert all the animations into native Unity format.

Be sure you're using the latest version of either one, and be sure you are not using features in your animation that are not supported by that particular solution.

If there are still any issues, I highly recommend you contact the developer of the solution you are using via the forum threads I linked to above, as they are the best equipped to trouble-shoot and help you.

cheers,

Hi! I am having issues importing Platformer Pack to Unity. I copy-paste the Platformer pack in the Assets folder of my test project. Everytime I open it, its stuck in "Hold On" panel. I can't do the drag n drop folder just like what you did in the example( please check the youtube link I have posted ). I am not sure what I am doing wrong since I am new to Unity too. Any suggestion how I can go around this problem?

Hi,

Please go here: https://brashmonkey.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3993-spriter-for-unity-50/

I suggest you post in the Spriter2Unity DX thread and try to get help from the developer and other's who use Unity. You're much more likely to get quick and helpful answers that way.

cheers.

thanks! :)

No problem. Best of luck with your projects.
thanks! someone did reply to my post in forum link you have provided. Unfortunately, he too tired to just hand out the fix he had posted somewhere in that same forums. I don't want to bother anyone if there aren't so willing to help but I tried using search and I can't find what I am looking for. I used keyword like "stuck" and "hold on" but nothing I find similar to my problem, well, I found one but I can't find anyone who have replied to that post. Maybe I seen it but I did not recognize it or didnt really understand how it solve anything. I will try to read each post maybe during my holiday vacation or something. Or, just do everything with Unit, forget Spriter.:steamhappy:

I wished there an option to push solve issues into a pin post and add a title on it, so, that noobs won't be easily intimidated to use the forums for answer. just my two cent.

Hi again. I don't think he's too tired to help, I think he doesn't want to waste time answering questions he's already answered many times before. He suggested that you look at his original post. In his original post (he's the developer of Spriter2UnityDX) his has a "known Issues" section.

Here's a copy of it (I've put arrows before the most relevant part for you):
Known Issues:

-Pivot points that are assigned on the canvas. Right now if you do this, your sprite will be misaligned when imported in Unity. I am planning on creating a fix for this on the next update, but not sure when that will be. For now, just set the default pivot point instead.

-On a related note, NOT setting any default pivot points at all will also cause irregular behavior.

>>>>>>-In some cases, the importer will endlessly loop. A workaround is manually setting your texture files to Sprite in the import settings. I have not figured out the cause for this but hopefully it'll be fixed in a future update.

-Bones that are added later during animations are perpetually disabled.

-The only supported curve types are smooth ones.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Basically, make sure your project is set to 2d and manually set your texture files to Sprite in the import settings. Also, in general make sure you have the latest version of Unity and Spriter2UnityDX and make sure you are not using Spriter features that Spriter2Unity can not import.

Are you using any custom speed curves?
Did you set default pivot points for your images before you began animating?
Are you using any advanced or experimental features like "skin mode"?

Thanks.
