Assassin's Creed II

PSA: Play the Auditore Family Crypt Mission and Deluxe Edition Missions Before June
I've been in touch with Ubi Support about whether these will be available after the shutdown on June 1st and they can't/won't commit to and answer. Supposedly that's "speculation" on what will happen and what will be lost during the server shutdown.

Reading this: https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthread.php/1241617-Online-Services-Update-Masterlist?p=15396536

Supposedly 'ULC' and 'Uplay Rewards' will be lost and no longer accessible. I gather Ubi calls DLC that has to have a code entered in-game as 'ULC' (probably to re-badge it so people don't freak about it being 'on the disc'). This may apply to the 'Deluxe Key' and 'Unlockable Content Key' that Steam gives when launching the game. My gut tells me that any key that needs to be entered from within the game menu (and not Ubi Connect) will be treated as 'ULC' and no longer available after the servers go offline.

Hoping that any rewards redeemed and keys entered BEFORE the server shutdown will persist on my Ubi account for future downloads but it's not looking good. I think Ubi should just grant the rewards and DLC's account wide and not reliant on the servers that are being shut down.

Problem is they'd have to push an update out to the game to fix it but they're too lazy for that.

This is such complete and total nonsense. There is no possible excuse for Ubisoft here.

Ubisoft, do the right and patch the game to just include these unlockables by default. It is morally wrong to take these away from people who paid good money in good faith for them just because your company insisted on this dumb online unlockable model that you no longer want to support.

I know these are minor parts of the game, but they still ARE part of the game and they shouldn't just be taken away and memory holed because you don't want to support the game any longer. Patch the game to include them by default.

No promise that it will work, but launch the game and create a fresh save to back up. Hopefully it will remember that your account has unlocked the reward. It's not likely but worth a shot.

I've unlocked everything (did that long back before the rewards were discontinued) and have beaten the game several times. I have a save game backed up at 100% sync.

This really rubs me the wrong way. Surely the correct way to handle this is to default to unlocking it by default rather than just taking it away from everyone - including people who paid good money for the deluxe version. Ubisoft needs to rethink this.

I agree. The "Ahhh, we're done with this" attitude is too common with games after they force reliance on their servers.

Read what they told me at the end.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/33230/discussions/1/3165442751826952859/

"For some of our older titles, generally if the online services are removed and it is integral to game content there are solutions put in place to avoid the content being unplayable. For instance being added to the game as a base or being redeemable elsewhere.

This is not an assurance or a confirmation on what will happen in the specific instances you mentioned, but just to let you know we do take these into consideration when such issues arise."

You trust them? I don't that's for sure.
That reply is wildly different from what I received:

Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Customer Support.Sadly I do not have an exact answer on this we can provide at this time. Customer Support cannot speculate about the impacts this change will have. When details become available, they will be posted on the game's official forum at http://forums.ubi.com and the Ubisoft blog at http://news.ubisoft.com.

My question asked if the AC2 DLC Keys entered in-game (from the Steam launcher) and Uplay Auditore Crypt will still download on a fresh install after the shutdown date.

I have decided to play some of these games(starting with AC 2) to claim the rewards before they close the servers. Hopefully I retain access to these rewards in future playthroughs even when they closed the servers.

I've done quite a bit of testing and found that in the case of AC2 at least as long as you got a save game with the rewards you should still be able to access them.

This really needs more visibility, while it is great that the community is coming together for such an old game and helping out with providing older saves, Ubisoft should be fixing this.

So now that we are in July. What has changed? And what was removed?

Hey there guys!

While pre-installed content should be unaffected, re-installs following the server's closure will very likely not including the previously unlocked Ubisoft Club / Deluxe content which are no longer obtainable.

At this time, there are no known plans to introduce any alternatives or other unlocking methods for this content, we are happy to pass your comments on though.

Sorry for any disappointment caused and if there's anything more we can answer, please let us know.

Thank you!

This is really disappointing especially for AC2 which has helped push AC to be as successful to where it is today to now be neglected due to a simple server shutdown.

Is it just re-installing the game or only when a save game is created after a certain date where the deluxe content will no longer be available? If the community can at least some up with a fan-made solution then that is better than nothing.

I would also recommend editing the Steam store page for AC2 so that the deluxe info is taken off as it is misleading if we can no longer play it.

On a side note - can anyone confirm if AC Brotherhood will now get the same problem? There is a deluxe edition for that also.

if you have an old account/save you might be able to access the rewards still.
