(FIX) AC2 CRASHING WITHOUT ERROR
I, as well as many other people from what I've seen across various forums online, was having problems with AC2 randomly crashing to desktop without error. It did this whenever I would tab out, tab in, or change a graphics setting.

Here's what I did to fix it:

> If you have multiple hard drives/SSDs, try installing the game on whichever disk your OS is installed on.
> Make sure your graphics driver is up to date


At first my game was installed on a separate SSD from Windows, but when I installed it to my main SSD it started working fine. I'm honestly not sure if the issue was the install location or my GPU driver being slightly out of date, but you might as well try both solutions. It worked for me, and I hope it works for you too, but I can't guarantee that.

By the way, I had previously tried to fix the crashing issue using solutions offered by other people online, such as setting the affinity to use only two cores of my cpu, running the game in compatibility mode, and a couple other random things I forgot. But needless to say, none of them worked. So if you've also read those forums and tried those solutions and they didn't work, definitely make sure to try mine!

Also, does anyone know WHY exactly my solution worked for me? I'm happy I finally got it to work properly, but I want to know why it works now when it didn't before.

Hello!

Thank you for sharing your experience here on the forums, I hope you're doing well.

In my experience, having your games or launchers on a different drive to your OS 'usually' doesn't cause any issues. However, putting them all together on the same drive is certainly a valid step to try. For reasons I can't explain (due to everyone's systems being different), players sometimes have Windows permission issues, and they may not be able to read / write fully between drives.

Hey, I know this is an old post but still...
Tried your solutions but it didn't work. For me it usually happens when autosaving

I am sorry that the game crashes for you.

Could you give us a little more information about your setup (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc.)? Have you already tried some steps to resolve this?
