Xbox One controller not working whatsoever

How do I make this game register literally anything I do with a controller? Sometimes it worked but now I can't get it to function at all, PC controls work but if I set the configuration to controller then all the PC controls aside from escape stop working and the controller has no effect on the game, I threw some .dll files relating to xbox 360 controller emulation in the game which has edited the controller layout to be normal, but its no use if the actual controller doesnt work

Are you using it via a wired or Bluetooth connection?

And do you have issues with the same controller and any other games?
