there's a couple things you can do
useful links:
- http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Assassin%27s_Creed_II#Save_game_data_location
- https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/FAQ/9/2716/how-do-i-load-an-older-save-game-or-access-a-lost-profilesession/kA030000000eSMICA2
In that location there are only 4 files, 1.save, 1.save.upload, 2.save, 2.save.upload.
I'm fairly certain those don't contain everything I've had in my progress because their sizes are all under 105 KB.
Should I just go to that site and download a file? Will it have any Monteriggioni upgrades or weapons/armor?
that sounds about right for a savegame file :) just check mine and I've got 1.save (3KB), 2.save (136KB) and 2.save.upload (0KB).
my guess is the 136KB is my last actual local savegame (I have completed AC2 through and through also) and the 2.save.upload file is something to do with it being uploaded to the Uplay cloud (as seen on PCGaming wiki.. AC2 savegames are synced to Uplay cloud)
I think you've still got the savegames basically (which is good news)... only thing is I'm not sure why they are not showing in-game.
could try ubi support or maybe backing up savegame files (just in case) and reinstalling AC2 on steam
hope this helps :-)
Maybe the save games are corrupted? I heard that can happen in Skyrim so maybe it happened here because the game closed while the exclamation mark was still active. That could explain why the save games are still there but don't show up in-game?
ubi support might know, but if I were you i'd try backing up those save files and reinstalling AC2 and see if that does anything
otherwise there's always the AC2 save files from that site (and sorry idk whether it has Monteriggioni weapons/armour)
I have to say, I trie dthat and ther eis no savegame fodle rnor gibberish folder... tried everywhere. even if istart a new save, the folder doens't show up
