Assassin's Creed II

Assassin's Creed II

Background Music Doesn't Work!!!
Apparently it happens in others Assassin's Creeds, the soundtracks that should sound in fights, chases, important scenes and of the cities rarely appear, playing instead the same relaxed song of free roam. I am surprised that this error did not have much impact, ACII has one of the best soundtracks in the franchise, and it sucks not to be able to listen them in-game. Does anyone know a solution?

Perhaps right-click selecting the game from withing your Steam's Library and then choosing the properties option. Inside it there should be an option to verify the game's file integrity. It might help in this case. :healplx:

Although, that particular issue never happened to me either from AC's franchise games that I've acquired through current UbiSoft Connect launcher / store nor the Steam's one.

Really? What Windows do you have?

Hmm, I've never had this issue either. When I enter combat, being chased or watch some important cutscenes the music always changes appropriately (eg. when fighting the game would play the fighting soundtrack, when I'm notorious the background music would be that tense, eerie soundtrack)

I am playing on Windows 11 (previously played on Windows 7 and 10, both worked as well)

Perhaps you could upload some videos showing this issue happening to you and submit a ticket?

Really? And did you complete the story mode without having this problem? I'm envious, well at least it's not a mistake that happens to everyone, that should be a good sign.

I don't think they will answer me with the ticket: / By any chance, how long have you had the game on steam? Have you ever made any changes to it? Any file or modification?

Hey I'm a huge huge fan of the AC series and I've played AC2 for 117 hours on steam and completed multiple playthroughs. I've never encountered the soundtrack issue you mentioned.

Haven't installed any mods or otherwise modified the game files in any way.

Before owning the game on Steam, I've also played the pirated version a lot longer since the game was first released (not very proud of this). Again, never encountered this.

Perhaps you could try downloading the game on another PC and see if the issue persists?

I wish I had another PC and try it, well maybe the reason this issue had no big drama is because it is not a common thing. Well, maybe the solution is downloading the pirate version and play it haha

Your sound properties must be in 44100KHZ. This worked for me.

Sorry for responding the old topic, but it still lacked an answer.
Thank you very much, Sparrow!

Worked just fine for me as well.

As for the answer. The path is something like Settings > Sound > Device Properties > Additional device properties > Advanced, then change it to 44100 Hz (mine was set to 48000).
Sorry if something is different, my Windows is in another language, but anyone needing it should reach it just fine.
