FIXED - Assassin's Creed II - Armor Removal: Is it possible?
I know it's completely impossible to most that you can't remove armor in ACII, and a lot of threads have been made about this. There still has to be a way, I have no clue why this is bothering me so much but it is. Is there at least some way to get rid of armor after you've finished the game? I'd really rather not restart. And I also have the Cheat Engine so I figured there could be a way to remove armor with that since you can manually type in the code for a certain object in-game and command it any way you want.

Update: Download HxD Hex Editor (http://download.cnet.com/HxD-Hex-Editor/3000-2352_4-10891068.html)
Open "setup" after it's done downloading, and then install it. When done installing, open HxD, go up to the file tab, click "Open", look for the save file your ACII save file is stored, and click on the save file. Once the file is opened on HxD, you'll see rows and rows of random numbers. Go up to the tab "search", click on "find", type in the code B857F2B79852A8A100001D0A0B0101, then it'll highlight the first row with that code, and change the last 2 digits from "01" to "00". And like BloodyMares said, there are several of these codes so you may have to repeat the process of searching the code in the "search" tab, changing the last 2 digits from 01 to 00 on each code, run ACII, and see if it's the right code. It's a long process but it's worth it if you don't want to replay 14 sequences.

I remember in Brotherhood you could get rid of armor by replaying a certain mission. Sadly, AC2 doesn't have this feature. But it's possible with editing hex values of your savefile.

1) If you change the value B857F2B79852A8A100001D0A0B01(02) from 02 to 00 you can get rid of the sword and dagger.
2) Changing the value B857F2B79852A8A100001D0A0B01(01) from 01 to 00 allows you to remove the metal cestus.
3) To remove the armor you need to be in Altair's Armor first. Then seek the value B857F2B79852A8A100001D0A0B01(01) from 01 to 00.
HOWEVER: This removes the armor only visually. It doesn't remove the health squares.

Note: Be sure to back up your save file before editing anything. As you can see, the metal cestus and armor are tied to the same value but not really. This value occurs several times. And IIRC the cestus value is the third and the armor value is the fifth. But I can be wrong, so one has to experiment with this. This is why backing up your save is necessary.

Is this in Cheat Engine? And does this permanently disable the ability to equip armor forever?

You need a hex editor like HxD.

You need a hex editor like HxD.

Oh ok, is it easy to download or install?

There are several hex-editors out there and some of them are free. Just google 'hex editor' and see what you can find.

Ok, and would this permanently disable the ability to equip armor in-game?

No, it would just empty your inventory. You could always re-equip armor from the Villa's armor stands.

Ok good, I always like to keep my spaulders on because they're the only piece of armor I actually did like. I just wanted to remove the chest piece, at least, because they're hideous. Btw is there a code for the chest piece? I'm sorry to keep asking questions I'm just very curious.

I don't know. You can spend several months trying if there's a corresponding line. I just know what I posted above.

Ok, well thank you very much for this and I'll definitely try this asap.

For some reason it isn't working. I found the code to the armor, retyped the last 2 digits to '00', and when I open my game I'm still wearing the Armor of Altair.

Well, as I said, there are several lines of the same code. You have to find which one is connected to the armor.

I found 3 codes similar, and I scrolled through the entire page. I tried changing each code's numbers, and then changing all 3 at the same time and nothing worked.

Wait never mind, I just found more codes. I just got rid of my sword and dagger, still searching. Thank you:)

One more question, as I was switching the digits on the codes I noticed there was some that didn't work, will those irrelevant codes affect my game at all?
