Assassin's Creed II

Controls
ok so I read that AC2 was better played with a controller, and so I've been playing it with this PS3 aftershock PC controller I found, and like, how the ♥♥♥♥ do I control my guy lol. I definitely like the learning curve, but with the way the controls work, I only recently learned I could do midair tackles by midair tackling about 3 priests on accident

The bindings are wrong in 1 and 2. You need to assign them manually. Use a console controller guide to be sure. If you are having problems with the triggers you are going to have to download one of the fixes that overrides the controller inputs. Ridiculous these never got an official fix

Hey Dr. Ebisuzawa, MD,

Thank you for reaching out!

Is it the basic controls you're unsure of or more the specific mechanics?

In terms of the basic actions, the controls on Dualshock 3 should be;
L1 Button - Contextual Camera
L2 Button - Target Lock
R1 Button - Weapon Wheel
R2 Button (Hold) - High Profile
Left Stick - Move
Right Stick - Look
Triangle Button - Head
Circle Button - Empty Hand
X Button - Legs
Square Button - Weapon Hand
D-pad UP - Select Hidden Blade
D-pad DOWN - Fists
D-pad LEFT - Use Medicine
D-pad RIGHT - Select Long Sword
Select Button - Map
Start Button - Pause menu

Hey Dr. Ebisuzawa, MD,

The default bindings above are for the PlayStation 3 / DualShock 3 controller.

If you're still having control issues, may we please know what actions it is you're struggling with?

Thank you!

the L1 and R1 buttons are what the control scheme uses for me, by default

I'm sorry Dr. Ebisuzawa, MD, however I'm a bit confused.

My understanding was that you were having issues / were unsure how to use the controls in-game, which is why I posted the bindings.

Is this not the case and you're able to control the game without any issues?

The defaulr bindings you posted are incorrect for my control scheme. Let me restate what I was trying to say. Rather then the RIGHT STICK controlling look inputs, it is merely the RIGHT AND LEFT R1 and L1 BUTTONS that inversely control movement. In otherwords, left button is to shift the camera rightwards on its axis, and the right button shifts the camera leftwards on its axis. I cannot look up or down without relying on the ledge "look down" mechanic.
If that doesn't clear up confusion I'd be happy to send a video of me pressing the exact buttons I'm referencing

I see, thank you for clarifying.

Is this the case after re-binding these controls in your settings?

Does changing your binds have no effect?

And have you checked your PlayStation Configuration Support settings in Steam?

You can check this by going to Steam (upper left of the client) > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings.

It may be worth toggling this on / off too if re-binding doesn't help.

Let us know how you get on!

I changed my bindings just fine, but the default for my afterglow PS3 dualshock controller is quite literally different then the one you posted. Default has Y axis camera direction control disabled by default, which I bound to right stick
