Windows 10 Problem

Since i installed Windows 10 on a new pc (new hardware and everything) Assassins Creed II, and Brotherhood wont Start anymore (the game window pops up after Uplay launches the game and closes itself instantly)
Hopefully someone knows a solution :D

Found a solution on myself, the game was installed on my second harddrive (an sata), i installed in on my ssd (where windows is installed) and it started without a problem :/

What OS did you upgrade from? There was an issue starting the game in windows 8 and 8.1. If you came from 7, it could just be the same issue. Update the Uplay launcher, that's the fix I found.

ok make sure its installed on the hdd with your osor your going to have problesm mine works now

I have this problem too, I had Win7 and had the same issue there, now on Win10 and it still won't work. I've uninstalled UPlay and reinstalled with the latest version from the UPlay website, validated the steam game files and tried launching from bother UPlay and Steam. I get the CD key window, Steam says 'running' in my library, then when I click play on the CD key window a few seconds later nothing happens but Steam loses the 'running' tag. Task manager shows the exe runs briefly then closes, doesn't even get as far as making a window for me. I've tried allowing the game exe through my security completely (I'm using Kaspersky) but still nothing. Anyone got any other ideas?

Hey, have you installed assassins Creed on an other Harddrive than your OS? if thats the case just try to install it on your windows partition/HDD. For myself this solution worked

No, it's installed to the default Steam library location, if I recall correctly C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assassin's creed 2, with C: obviously being my OS drive...

you could try to delete everything but the "Steamapps" folder and the steam.exe in your Steam root folder, after that you run steam again (this will re-download the client files and resets the registry data of steam).....perhaps this will work since it helps for a lot of problems but i have no garantee........an other idea would be to uninstall everything (Assassins Creed, Steam and Uplay) then run CCleaner to clean the registy and reinstall everything again.
Hope one of those works for you, since i have no more ideas

AHA! I got it working! Wow, idk if my problem was me being silly and missing something everyone had been assuming was obvious or UPlay just being broken, but it works now!

When I'd been reinstalling UPlay from the website's installer I'd been installing it to it's default directory (Program Files > Ubisoft > Ubisoft Game Launcher iirc) and then I found this thread https://steamcommunity.com/app/33230/discussions/0/810919057034679171/ that said specifically to install UPlay to your Steam AC2 folder, and it worked! So.... now I need to install multiple copies of UPlay, one for every Steam game I have that insists on using it... Regardless of anything else that is a *stupid problem*! Anyways, hope this helps anyone still stuck, I can finally play these games! :D Thanks for the sugestions B3nkr4.

Edit: Also, sorry for the little bit of thread necrosis that went on here... One day I will learn to check thread dates before posting to them and not just starting a new one...

I have just found another way so as to make it work. Just uninstall the game from steam and install it from UPlay. that worked for me.

Beste era batean konpndu dezakezue. Steametik jokua kendu eta UPlay programan instalatu. Besterik ez. Behintzat niri ondo irten zait.

He encontrado otra forma de solucionar el problema. Desinstalando el juego desde steam e instalandolo con UPlay. A mi al menos me ha funcionado.

Well wait untill you get to the mission where it freezes on you. Window 10 doesn't work with this game so you can't play until you have Windows 7

This game works fine under Windows 10. The only thing that I would check and make sure is that you haven't installed Windows Storage Spaces and then have installed the game on a Storage spaces volume. that causes all sorts of issues. the same goes for Storage spaces under Windows 8/8.1
