2. Reboot PC
3. Download Ubisoft connect lastest version: https://www.techspot.com/downloads/6848-ubisoft-uplay.html
And by now you should've reliased that this user has been spamming the latest threads upon this section with that exact "copy-paste post alluring to download Ubi$oft Connect from a site that ain't its official one and therefore it must be a phishing attempt scam.
Thus, I highly suggest you and others to also simply report that post as a spam post coupled with an eventual phishing attempt and simply ignore it afterwards.
This worked for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Lw7SwgnGZQ
Basically:
- Go to desktop mode, install Protontricks (you can find it in the Discover app)
- Open Protontricks, select Assassin's Creed II
- Select "Install an application"
- Find "Ubisoft Connect" from the list and install it (don't run it at the end)
Now when you launch the game it should use the correct launcher.
it's easier for me to just emulated the Ezio Collection on my switch emulator.
i refunded AC2 because Ubisoft support simply did not care.
I agree completely. I'm glad you were able to refund it.
The fact that Ubisoft forces you to install their app to log in is bad enough, but the fact that they can't even be bothered to fix the install for their older games is just criminal... let alone that they are still selling them in this state.
Buy on Steam > Download > Play
How it is:
Buy on Steam > Download > Install Uplay > Make a Ubisoft Account > Hope that it doesn’t throw a random error > Wait for it to load > Play
Online Functionality for AC2 is gone so why is Uplay still required
- Install the AC2 Eagle patch to fix controller support and various bugs.
- Visit ProtonDB, there are instructions posted to manually replace the launcher with the latest version, works great.
Google "Assassin's Creed II 16:10", and grab the fix to allow the game to properly support the Steam Deck's display resolution without being stuck with black bordered forced 16:9.
