Both those games were made over 15 years ago, pretty much at then end of the gaming's industry golden age, in which with little PC resources they had to relly a lot in creativity to make things work. And quite frankly, imho, they've done so for both those titles even when I'm replaying those all these years afterwards.
And you want to know why? Perhaps it's just becuase those games were made to actually make you think and ponder approaches instead of the usual instant gratification that, for a mere instance, they've turned AC: Oddyssey or AC: Syndicate to be (with all those internal game money transactions already on top of a regularly priced / overpriced game).
To each his/her own preferences, and provided that I've already showed you a solution for your apparent predicament apart my personal picking, I bid you farewell and happy gaming.
