Codex wall cutscene not triggering during "A Change of Plans" mission

This is my first time playing the game, and I'm at the part where you go back to the villa with Mario and you are meant to read a letter then go to him in his study. I've done some research and after you read the letter, it seems a cutscene is meant to trigger where he talks to you about the Codex wall.

After I read the letter, Mario's destination in his study appears on my map, but nothing happens when I stand right next to him. There is no prompt to interact with him. When I go to the game menu the mission prompt still says to read the letter, even though I've done it. I've tried killing Ezio, aborting the memory, desynchronising Ezio by going out of bounds, restarting the game, verifying the integrity of the game files on Steam, completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but none of these fix the issue. This is frustrating as I've been really enjoying the game so far. If anyone has any idea of what might help solve this it would be greatly appreciated.
